Pay homage to the Sukhothai-era Buddha statue at Wat Phra Ya Yang

🏕 Wat Phra Ya Yang was built during the reign of King Rama III around 1847 by Phra Maha Niwet Nanurak (Yang Raktaprachit). He was a general who led an army to attack Cambodian cities and brought Cambodian people to settle along the Saen Saeb Canal, which is now Ban Khu. He built a temple named Wat Phra Ya Yang. The important and interesting features within the temple are as follows: 🏠 The Ubosot (ordination hall) is in Thai style with gilded glass door and window frames. The doors and windows are decorated with gold leaf patterns. Inside, there is a principal Buddha statue from the Sukhothai period in the Mara Vichai posture. 🛕 The Chedi (stupa) was built to cover a damaged Buddha statue at the site of the old Ubosot. It is a Burmese-style stupa, and another one is a Prang-style stupa for housing the ashes of the general public.
