Wat Ratchaorotaram Ratchaworawihan

Wat Ratchaorotaram Ratchaworawihan (Chom Thong), Bangkok 🊷 An ancient temple of King Rama III of the Chakri Dynasty, which existed before the establishment of Rattanakosin. It is considered the first temple decorated mostly with Chinese art and blended harmoniously with the Thai art in the temple. 🙏 The ordination hall has a combination of Thai and Chinese architecture and art. The roof is Chinese style but covered with Thai-style colored tiles. There is no gable or raka. The gable is decorated with beautiful colored glazed tiles in the shape of a vase of chrysanthemums. There are auspicious animals according to Chinese beliefs, namely a dragon, a swan, and a peacock. The lower part is a landscape picture with houses, pets, mountains, and trees. The edges of the roof are decorated with colored tiles and bowls all around. The door and window arches are decorated with colored tiles. 🙏 The large chapel enshrines a 20-meter-long stucco reclining Buddha. King Rama IV named it "Phra Phuttha Saiyasna Naratchananin Chinsakya Borom Somdet Sarapetch Phutthabophit". This reclining Buddha has 108 auspicious patterns on the feet. The square-shaped Buddha image under the head and is the largest reclining Buddha in Thonburi. 🙏 Phra Wihan Phra Yuen Inside the temple, there are 2 rooms. The first room is in the front, which enshrines the standing Buddha image in the posture of subduing the ocean (posture of subduing relatives) in the U Thong style. The second room is in the back, enshrining Buddha images of various sizes and postures. There is a large principal Buddha image in the center, which is the posture of subduing Mara in the Ayutthaya style. 🙏 Phra Wihan Phra Nang or Sala Karn Parian Inside enshrines the principal Buddha image, “Phra Phuttha Chaisitthi Thammanat,” which is a Buddha image in the posture of giving a sermon. His left hand is in a fist and he is holding a palm leaf fan. Importantly, the palm leaf fan has a hole in the middle that allows the face of this Buddha image to be seen. 📍 Bang Kho Subdistrict, Chom Thong District, Bangkok #Post for good luck #Wat Ratchaorotaram Ratchaworawihan
