Built by Ramses II, the temples were moved in the 1960s to avoid submersion after the dam’s construction. The site features colossal statues and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. * Philae Temple: Dedicated to the goddess Isis. Like Abu Simbel, it was relocated to avoid flooding. You need both a temple ticket and a boat ride, which can be pricey, but negotiable. I paid 250 EGP as a solo traveler. * Nubian Villages: Known for their colorful homes and pet crocodiles.
