[Tochigi] Ashikaga, a city of history and nature

#Spring0yenTrip Ashikaga was a quiet town where history and nature coexisted in harmony. First we visited Ashikaga School. It is said to be the oldest school in Japan, and we strolled around the grounds, feeling its historical value. The old-fashioned school buildings and gardens spread out, and I was impressed that a place of education from the good old days still remains today. Next we visited Ban'aji Temple. The majestic temple and its gardens were beautiful, and time passed quietly. After that, we visited Orihime Shrine, where we could feel its history as the guardian deity of the Ashikaga clan. In particular, the oldest single-story triple torii gate in Japan was impressive, and its unique shape caught our eye. Also, at the Gakumonden Hall on the grounds, we could see students praying for academic success, and we felt the culture and history of the town deeply. Ashikaga was a perfect place to take a leisurely stroll around historical buildings and shrines.
