Art Exhibition of Niki de Saint Phalle in Aix

This beautifully renovated mansion now serves as a venue for various exhibitions. From now until October 5, 2025, you can explore the "bestiaire magique" of Niki de Saint Phalle, featuring animals and fantastical creatures from her imagination. The exhibition includes her paintings, sculptures, and installations, designed to feel like a journey through a magical story. Niki, an American-French artist, was one of the most prominent female artists of the 20th century. She began her career as a model but turned to art after experiencing mental health struggles in her youth, using it as a form of healing. She joined the French Nouveau Réalisme movement in the 1960s, known for its response to real-life themes. Her "Shooting Paintings," where she shot at canvases filled with paint to create explosive effects, reflected her personal pain and challenged patriarchal norms. In this collection, however, Niki embraced vibrant colors to create a playful yet profound artistic world, offering therapeutic energy both for herself and her audience.
