A boutique two-bedroom cottage with modern living areas beautifully appointed with bespoke furniture and finishes. We have lovingly assembled dramatic, full-sized, textured murals, carefully-chosen soft furnishings, and custom wall art to create a contemporary home-from-home feeling that at once invites our guests to explore the whimsical and mysterious connections with Arthur Conan Doyle’s late Victorian England. Reimagine his iconic consulting detective on a new, yet familiar case in the unspoiled beauty of our quiet Cotswolds village. The cottage theme begins in the cosy living room, where a tropical wall mural sets the tone for our botanist's retreat, complete with study desk and period microscope. Across the hall is a modern kitchen-dining area complete with solid oak kitchen chairs and sheepskin throws. Upstairs, we offer two beautiful bedrooms: a luxurious main bedroom with queen-sized bed, twin closets and ensuite shower room; and a twin bedroom with two single beds with a playful jungle theme.Merripit Cottage is nestled at the end of a private drive on the very edge of tranquil Broad Campden, with a beautiful view across the bucolic Gloucestershire countryside. We are only 15 minutes on foot from the famous market town of Chipping Campden, renowned across England for its uniquely preserved terraced high street, as well as its many local pubs and restaurants. A short drive or pleasant afternoon’s hike away stands Broadway Tower, with its breathtaking scenic views across the Vale of Evesham. The town of Broadway itself, notable for the Lygon Arms where Oliver Cromwell is thought once to have stayed during the English Civil War era, is only 12 minutes away by car; and the iconic town of Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare is only a 27-minute drive. Or why not enjoy one of the many local footpaths that criss-cross the very same green, undulating landscape that influenced J.R.R. Tolkien, and pay a visit to the Bell Inn in the local town of Moreton-in-Marsh, considered by many as the inspiration for “The Prancing Pony.”About pets:Pets allowed: dogs and cats (limit 2 total).About checkOut:Check out before 11:00 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 3-17.About checkIn:Check in after 3:00 PM.About smoking:Smoking is not permitted.About minBookingAge:Minimum age to rent: 18.About events:No events allowed.
The room was amazing. This is the cleanest and most beautiful country hotel I have ever stayed in. The service staff was very warm and thoughtful, the breakfast was delicious, and the room was very cozy and the furnishings were warm and beautiful! Highly recommended, and I hope to bring my children here to stay again!

Lovely setting, plenty parking. Didn’t eat there so can’t comment on restaurants. Just next door there’s a cafe and a pizzeria with a marque type set up and also a van that serves churros, donuts and crepes in the evening. Plenty of walking around and about. Only thing that was a little annoying is not being able to use the pool without booking a spa treatment which we did not do.
Typical English country hotel, breakfast is very rich, tastes good, typical English breakfast is provided.
Facilities: Hundreds of years of stone houses, downstairs is a restaurant bar, upstairs is a guest room. It's a bit noisy from the side of the road.
Great location Parking at rear of hotel although not obvious where access to car park is. Lovely cosy and clean room. Grady value for money. Only criticism is there was a very limited menu choice. Lovely breakfast great quality
Can’t fault the service and friendliness of the staff. Will book again but probably eat somewhere else due to limited choice
It was a great experience and stay. A bit far from the city center. But the room was spacious and I loved bathrooms. It was very comfortable. And top of that, the restaurant served amazing food! I highly recommend :)

The hotel room I received didn’t match the specifications promised during booking. Advertised as a 26 sqm King-sized space, the room I walked into was significantly smaller (around 20 sqm) —cramped and difficult to navigate, with barely any space for luggage or comfortable movement.
Initially, the service agent insisted all rooms were the same size and claimed I’d been upgraded to a Queen-sized room. They also told me no alternative rooms were available due to full booking.
After nearly an hour of late-night discussion with the on-duty manager—around 11pm—I was finally offered a room that was noticeably more spacious and aligned with my expectations.
This experience highlights the importance of honest and accurate descriptions in hotel listings. I hope future guests won’t have to deal with the same confusion and inconvenience.
CChristopherI actually live in the neighborhood around this hotel, but I booked it to host a friend for the weekend. It's not the easiest option in the vicinity to walk to from the train station, though the walk which goes along the canal for most of the way is super scenic if you have time to spare on arrival. The cab to the hotel was also fairly quick and cost us about fifteen quid.
Check-in was super convenient and casual, and the girl working walked us up to the room to introduce all the amenities and features of our room. The room was well equipped but it was a little bit of a disappointment that it didn't have a mini fridge - there aren't a lot of food options or supermarkets in easy walking distance from the hotel, so we had brought some items with us that we had to leave on the windowsill to keep chilled.
Overall though the room was great. The lower level living room was a super comfy spot to chill and eat, and then the raised bedroom was incredibly cosy. I'm 5'11” and I will say I almost took myself out on the sloped walls a few times - I imagine anyone taller would have to be very careful. I've noticed that showers in this area generally aren't super hot or pressurised, but the setup here wasn't too bad.
The pub below is of course super charming, a great place to sit with a pint and watch the sunset, though we didn't try the food. I will probably come back to this pub, and would stay in the inn again if I ever have any reason to.
GGuest UserThe Mousetrap Inn proved to be an excellent choice for our recent getaway. The location is absolutely perfect – just a pleasant walk to the main town, giving us easy access to local attractions, shops, and restaurants while enjoying peaceful surroundings.
What truly made our stay memorable was the genuinely friendly staff. From check-in to checkout, every team member was welcoming and helpful, going out of their way to ensure we had everything needed. Their local knowledge and recommendations enhanced our entire visit.
The included breakfast was a real highlight and exceptional value. Fresh, well-prepared options with plenty of variety kept us satisfied each morning before exploring. It's rare to find complimentary breakfast that actually exceeds expectations.
The inn maintains a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that perfectly matches its charming name. Clean, comfortable accommodations combined with the convenient location made it easy to enjoy both tranquil relaxation and vibrant town center activities.
Highly recommended for friendly service, great value, and ideal location.
DDavid WachendorferMansley refers to their properties as ”managed apartments”. There is no on site staff, you check in online and get a single code that gets you into the building, your room, and the parking. They are very attentive during the stay to make sure you know that if you need anything they are a phone call away. I absolutely love this concept! The property itself appears to have been recently renovated and in immaculate condition. The room was stunning. You walk into a living room area with kitchen with soaring 2 story ceilings. The bedroom is an upstairs loft with king size bed. Towels, linens, mattress, coffee service, etc. are all top of the line. The location can't be beat. Right in the heart of town center with everything you could possible need a short walk away. They have a secure parking lot right next to the property as well. I have stayed at all of the trendy hotels in Cheltenham. This is by far my favorite. Won't stay anywhere else when in Cheltenham. Can't wait to try another Mansley property.
GGuest UserThis is a functional little hotel that is close to the train station. Don't expect luxury, but you can expect friendly and warm service, and a spacious room.
The reason I booked this hotel was due to the rail strikes. I was on a business trip and meant to be taking the train to London that evening but wasn't able to. Furthermore, it was the Cheltenham races and all the other places had already been booked out.
This room was a lifesaver for me. I was exhausted from an intense itinerary and needed a place to sleep and freshen up. I was pointed to the supermarket close by. As there were all the cutlery and even a microwave in the room, I had no issues rustling up a hot meal for myself.
I am giving this hotel a high rating because the overall experience exceeded my expectations. I just want to make it very clear that guests need to understand this is not a fancy establishment designed for holidaying, but if you are travelling for work purposes, this will come close to being home away from home.
GGuest UserThe room has an old house smell that is unbearable. The small air conditioner installed has a very dirty filter and I dare not turn it on.
The front desk staff is not always there, and there is a queue for check-in
The environment outside is very beautiful
JJWLoved staying at the Bell. Right opposite Tewkesbury Abbey, you couldn’t ask for a better location. Free parking is a real bonus here too and the location is close to the Severn Way walk, for walks down to Deerhurst and beyond.
Friendly , engaging , genuine, and sometimes fun, service and attention from all the staff made us feel very welcome.
The breakfast was so worth the price, and huge portions too! We also stayed for dinner one night ( had a great Indian at the Raj the second night) and were so nicely surprised. Being a ‘pub chain’ hotel you sometimes think the food might be quite bland and corporate but the chefs here know what they are doing. So happy with the food.
One or two minor grumbles might be the traffic noise, as our room was on the road ( so wore earplugs and fine) and the very soft bed, but meh, it was fine really.
We would more than likely stay again if passing through this way in the future.
CCaroline JaneWe are a family of four and booked 2 junior suites and requested both on booking and during email correspondence prior to our arrival for double bed and twin bed configurations. On our arrival we were allocated rooms at opposite ends of the hotel, on different floors and with 2 double beds. Housekeeping had apparently gone home for the night despite arriving before 6pm and so this could not be corrected. The hotel had a beautiful open fireplace in the main bar which for some reason on a cold night in December wasn’t alight. We ate dinner in the hotel brasserie where a significant number of dishes on the menu were unavailable with no explanation from the staff when asked. At breakfast the following morning we were unable to order coffee as apparently this service is not available on weekends. Overall, despite a great location, this was a very disappointing stay.
