The Village Courtyard Suites

We stayed 13 nights in Suite 3, one couple and one single adult. The location is great, walking distance from at least 6 restaurants, and the Village itself has a coffee shop and bar with very friendly staff. The atmosphere was so friendly, we all felt secure and welcomed here and would definitely stay here again should we return to Windhoek. The courtyard in the centre was a delightful place to spend time having a drink; plenty of trees for shade, little ponds full of fish and lots of birds around. There are also businesses based in some of the spaces around the centre, so it always felt like there were people around coming and going. We would particularly like to thank Aletha, Romashall, Violine and Rebecca for making us feel like part of the Village family while we were there! Elzaan, one of the owners, was also very kind and helpful regarding finding supermarkets, places to eat, taxi advice etc. The two double rooms are clean and comfortable, with a partition separating the bed from the shower/toilet in each room. There wasn't much storage in the bedrooms but it was fine for a short stay. The kitchenette was adequate; two hot-plates and a microwave, coffee machine, kettle and a toaster (which was broken, but was replaced after a week). The utensils provided were also pretty basic - a broken corkscrew and a few knives. This meant it was quite difficult to self-cater so we ended up eating out most evenings. There were safes in each bedroom but they didn't work; happily Faanie was able to help make one of them work after a couple of days. The lounge area is comfortable, the wifi worked very well, and the TV has amazon, netflix etc if you are happy to log into your own account. There was a balcony at the rear, from which it was fascinating to sit and watch the dassie rat families! There is a craft market held on Sundays with live music, and lots of stalls selling things from food to jewellery, art and clothing, and some other evenings held live events such as quiz nights etc. The courtyard bar was lively in the evenings but not late into the night which was great for getting a good night's rest. One of our party also regularly used the meeting rooms to conduct interviews, the booking process was straightforward and the space was perfect for their needs.
