Moon Isle Beach Bungalow

The location is stunning. Right on a quiet beach away from the busy touristy beaches. The sea was amazing to swim in - warm and calm. The owners were super friendly and helpful with all queries. We also did whale watching trip through the hotel which was awesome. The bar and restaurant are also excellent offering a good range of tasty food at very good prices.

This place is heaven. Mandy is so inviting and friendly. Her staff are all excellent. The food is the best we have ever eaten on any holiday anywhere. The room we had looked out onto the beach. It had great air con and a lovely patio area. We spent our days eating gorgeous food and drinking wonderful cocktails from Moon Isle’s bar. We swam in the beautiful water on this quiet bit of stunning beach. The resident dogs were a joy to be around. There are also some charming cows who stop by to feed daily. Moon Isle is like nowhere I have ever stayed. Often, I struggle to relax fully into a holiday but I felt at home straight away at Moon Isle. It is just so relaxing and well run by the excellent Mandy and her staff. We will be back many times we hope.

Gorgeous stay at Moon Isle - Mandy, Umesh and the rest of the staff are so welcoming and helpful. Lovely comfortable and well equipped rooms right at the beach , plenty of seating, sunbeds and hammocks, good food, and the sea warm and great for swimming. Pigeon island close by. Long beach you can walk or run on for several kilometres.

We stayed 7 nights at Moon Isle and would of happily stayed longer. Everything was perfect. We had a very warm welcome on arrival and a very tasty welcome drink before being taken to our room.. Our room was beautiful, very large comfy bed with quality bedding. Lots of storage around the room to feel organised. The bathroom was stunning, the shower was something else….it’s like showering in a waterfall, no worry here about water pressure, and piping hot water. We spent our days being incredibly lazy and making the most of the peace and quiet. It is so relaxing and felt like a private beach all to ourselves. Reading, relaxing and enjoying the ocean..watching the Sea Eagles overhead, the fishermen negotiating their nets..that’s as stressful as it was. Just perfect. The restaurant, the breakfast, very good choices all prepared to order and everything was superb. The menu has a great choice of both Sri Lankan, Western and Seafood. Everything we ordered was spectacular, presented beautifully and cooked to perfection. The seafood was amazing. Rarely an empty table in the evenings, which speaks for itself. But always felt intimate and uncrowded. Mandy and her husband and all their staff are incredible and work really hard, which shows in the ambience of Moon Isle and makes you feel so welcome. We are so pleased we chose to visit the East Coast of Sri Lanka and there was only one option where we would have stayed and would stay again and recommend to others. Moon Isle every time. Moon Isle Beach Bungalow was recommended to me and what a great choice it turned out to be! Mandy is such a lovely host and treated all the guests as part of her extended family, which really was the difference between a nice stay and a memorably wonderful one. The location was also super convenient for me, as it's right next to Poseidon where I'd booked daily diving trips, and their restaurant is superb. I opted for all the local Sri Lankan choices but Western options and various seafood dishes are available as well. Everything I had was delicious, and portions are generous. I didn't try a lot of other places around Trinco to be fair, but of the ones I did, none hold a flame to Moon Isle. I'll be dreaming about their coconut sambal until my next visit. I even got some to bring back, that's how good it is! The room was also very roomy and comfortable and I loved how amazing it was to be able to step outside and be right there on the beach - and what a beautiful serene stretch of beach it was. For the end of my trip I moved to Uppaveli (just to get a taste of the area) and although it was nice enough I just wanted to be back at Moon Isle. If you're looking for a comfortable home away from home by the beach, I highly recommend Moon Isle Beach Bungalow!

This was one of the most beautiful places we have been in Sri Lanka. Mandy made our stay fabulous. I proposed my girlfriend on the beach and Mandy helped me with everything. We booked an extra day here, because the place was so nice. Mandy´s husband is a very good chef. The food here was amazing. The bungalows are very clean and comfortable. We also booked a trip to see the whales from here. This was one of the best experience we ever had. The beach here is so beautiful. We could recommend everybody to go to this place!!!!
