Friendly staff and clean lodging.
We booked half board which was worthwhile as the food quality was great and especially when restaurants close early within the area, saved us looking for dinner. However, there are a few time slots we need to abide to, which is fine as attractions usually are closed by late afternoon anyway.
There is onsen in this accommodation, but it's not big. Enclosed onsen with no external views, and the water has some medical component added thus making the water reddish which may deter guests not accustomed to the color.
The Ryokan location is convenient for walking to a few attractions (for those who enjoy walking about 15-30mins to either attraction), which include Takachiho Kagura performance (pre-booking required), Takachiho Gorge, Takachiho Amaterasu Railway - scenic train ride.
Do note the train rides cannot be pre-booked, and end by 3PM in the afternoon.
And Takachiho Gorge Boat Rental should be pre-booked, with time slot bookings open 7 days before.
入住登記時,櫃檯人員無法說英語,借助翻譯軟體但只表達了用餐時間及浴池使用時間,未提及退房時間,亦無書面指示!隔日因要外出遊玩,7點50分問櫃檯人員退房時間,該員以不標準英文表示12點,我們有4人聽到的都是這答案!大約10點40分我們回來了,另一位服務人員一直喊著說:「Check out OVER!」,等我們進到接待廳,赫然發現我們的行李已被清出房間,行李箱未釦上,物品被凌亂的塞入行李箱中!也許語言溝通不良是主因,但飯店人員的處理方式非常非常粗暴無禮,逕自將房客物品清出,令人非常氣憤!非常糟糕的人員訓練及管理!
