The One Resort

We booked Sianukville for 4 nights but were seriously disappointed when we got there It is now full of high-rise buildings and has a VERY Chinese influence. So we decided to go by ferry to Koh Rong Sanloem Island for a night. Stayed at THE ONE RESORT Contact the resort and they will advise which ferry to get. One is close to the resort, the other is almost an hours walk away and impossible if you have a suitcase. The resort can arrange for a small boat to come pick you up. As you look at the bay the resort is on the left hand side. The resort is directly on the beach. Remember to clean your feet with the squirters when going on the decking Reception is next to the bar in the restaurant area. Reception staff are very welcoming and informative. They give you a voucher for breakfast if you have pre booked. Beach towels are available at reception There is a gym, which is basic but has everything you need for a good workout. There are 2 pools in the resort. One next to restaurant directly on the beach, the other(also slightly warmer) is to the rear of the resort. Both are very clean and well maintained. Our room was next to the pool at the rear. Bungalow style, very basic but clean and well maintained. Note: there was no mini fridge or TV in our room A kettle, cups, tea, coffee etc was available along with 2 small bottles of water. Mosquito net over the bed. Shampoo and shower gel supplied There are also hut type rooms available on the beach(at extra cost) and huts on stilts with hammocks beneath them. Breakfast was basic but nice and food fresh. Resort should ensure that heating element is on under the hot food as no one likes it luke warm😉 Food and drink prices are more expensive than bars and restaurants further along the beach Staff are really nice, especially Miss Lily at reception who will give you plenty help and advice and Mr Chumnit, who went above and beyond to ensure we had an excellent stay and answered any queries we had. We would definitely recommend The One Resort and use it when we return to the island Not budget busting, very clean, staff friendly and helpful The Cambodian government really need to address the rubbish clean up along their beaches as the hotels only deal with the area directly in front of them. We collected 4 bags of rubbish everytime we walked from the resort to the bars and restaurants. Very beautiful island and worth a visit

The One Resort is situated on the southern end of Saracen Bay where the beach is the nicest. The view from the infinity pool and reception/dining area is amazing. Crystal clear water and fine white sand well kept by the resort. A tinny will collect you from the nearby Soon Noeng pier. Most of the staff are very friendly, particularly Miss Lily. The rooms are quite basic but are air-conditioned as well as a ceiling fan. A mosquito net over the bed is best used to avoid those blood sucking mozzies! The resort has a gym with air-conditioning and another pool towards the rear of the property. Breakfast buffet was basic but of good quality. The restaurant's food and drink prices were reasonable. The food we had for lunch/dinner was better here than anywhere else we tried on the island. Koh Rong Samloem is undergoing some changes at the moment. Quite a lot of businesses along the south side of Saracen Bay have been demolished. Machinery was in full swing nearby but surprisingly did not distract us. Two other resorts close to The One also appear doomed but The One seems to have won a reprieve. I walked the length of Saracen Bay. The middle seems the busiest, the north end was lifeless and the southern end undergoing change as previously mentioned. If you are contemplating visiting KRS, The One is really your best bet.

We stayed four nights in one of the great bungalows. The bungalows are equipped with everything. Hot water, fan, aircon. Nice spacious shower. The morning buffet was rich and always freshly prepared. Staff very friendly and helpful. Especially Mr Reasey and Mr Chumnit were very nice and always had good advice. Pool fantastic, beach very clean. We can only recommend this resort!!! Not sure how this place is on the list of traveller’s choice. As I write this review, we still are yet to experience anything commendable. We had a big fly in the kid’s pasta dish. We asked for milk with coffee which never arrived. We ordered food, including dish for our little one, which never arrived after 45 minutes. Turns out it was never ordered. They did not have most fresh juice on the menu, including coconut water. They do not have sparkling water. In general, food is very disappointing. We have tried most of the types of the dishes on the menu so far. We are regretting having moved from Sol Beach Resort to here. For our friends who are staying with us, they are similarly disappointed with the “spa” on site. I believe management need to strongly review their pricing strategy if the quality and standards of service and products keep deteriorating. Bed is noisy and not comfortable. There is only single sheets. We are three in our bungalow and only two sets of towel. It could also do with having a broom to self-clean all the sand coming in before going to bed. This place could easily rate a terrible right now. It cannot, and pray does not, get worse than this. The island is already short of quality places. If you have money to spend, go to La Passion (with private pool possible) or Sol Beach Resort (no pool).

For sure, this stay will be one of the best I ever had. The experience began long before the trip itself. Manager Lily was so attentive by providing all information prior to arrival, even helping w/ getting boat tickets and suggesting mobile provider. Hotel workers helped me to get to the hotel, provided me a bit earlier arrival, welcome drink. The room was clean and light. Room service was on the daily basis. Breakfast is really good. I tasted twice other dishes from restaurant menu - they were awesome 9one of the best I tried in Cambodia). Service during the whole stay was fantastic. The hotel team treated me like I was a family member. I has a booking in 2 hotels (2 days in the One, and 2 days in another), but I decided to cancel the second booking and to stay here for the whole period. I was assisted w/ all the questions I have had. The next time I come on the island - I would definitely stay here. Guys, thank you so much for the memories!

Sadly the island has been sold to developers so large tracks of land have been cleared for new roads and the building of large modern hotels with ****** licenses. This will dramatically alter the island, beaches and hotels. There are numerous press articles available. The Government is preparing to destroy most of the old hotels and buildings, including the One Resort, cancellations of leases have been spray painted on the outside of buildings effective Jan 31/1/2023. The One resort was due to be demolished on Feb 9th. Our stay was affected by frequent visits of the deputy Governor supported by the Police, at the same time landing craft were dropping of bulldozers and other demolition equipment, the constant noise from early in the morning was very disruptive to our holiday. The threat of demolition has been known since 2018 and hence the reason for limited investment in the existing properties. The owner of the property were unwilling to refund us even though we moved out during the stay.

Great hotel and great food. Loved it The service is really nice, they are very attentive and make sure everything is going well. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the pool is a plus. A very good experience which is worth every dollar

Service foods and rooms the best We will be back again But I hope when we come everything is not change The people in there so friendly too Especially in this beach have a lot of nice resorts and guests bungalows restaurants and club Oh ..! We can go to fishing …….
