Hotels in Yu Garden Area, Shanghai

Love this hotel! We are from Malaysia and did DIY travel ourselves. Free and easy. This hotel location is 100% perfect - just across the metro station (Laoximen) and walk up 800m you will find a mosque (for muslims). So halal food is also nearby. If you are up to people watching, walk up further you can find Yuyuan Garden! This hotel is the perfect location for us! The check in staff, despite not speaking English well were great and Yi Mo and friends definitely tried very best to make our stay enjoyable. Kudos Demores Hotel. Will recommend you guys definitely!

Wonderful experience! All the staff were attentive, polite, helpful and so accommodating to our needs and questions. The hotel has laundry facilities and a gym, free to use. Breakfast was a good spread, Chinese style mainly. Right next to Yu Garden and crossing a few streets takes you to the Bund. The rooms look like their photos and the “XiaoDu”AI operating the room is such fun, just that it only speaks Chinese. We truly enjoyed our stay. Would definitely come back.

They are located in 2 different buildings. I was put in another building. The room is SMALL. I was very shocked to see the size, I think they have added the loft space and the bottom space together to give the sqm2. There is no TV inside the room and the wifi is super bad. Iiterally there is no internet at all throughout the whole stay. But the good thing is that they offer washing machine and dryer on level 3 and 5 at the common area. Not bad!

It depends on what type of services you need. The room that I had booked had poor sound insulation , I can hear what the other room is talking about and even the intimate part. The underground train that passes by every 3-5min early in the morning will actually cost slightly vibration and sound as well. My advise is that those who are light sleeper to avoid this hotel. However the room is very clean and projector tv is a plus point

The newly opened hotel is located in the Luxiangyuan block next to Baiyun Temple. It is quiet in the bustling city and especially quiet at night. The twin room is very large and deep, with an area of ​​40 square meters. The free drinks and fruits are very good~ The breakfast is very special, and the Shanghai-style noodles and wontons ordered are delicious~ There is a manager at the front desk who is very energetic, enthusiastic, handsome, and very nice! The guy who sent the luggage to check in was also very thoughtful~

Overall good due to its proximity to the subway station (right outside the entrance). Fairly clean with minimalist, loft-style aesthetics. Inclusion of a washer/dryer combo is a plus. Overall clean and no weird smells. No gym or other frills but good for this price point.

Great location just 3 min walk from the train station and 5 min walk to Yu Garden. Hotel was clean and large. Bathroom floor was slippery though so take note. The hotel turned on central heater but it was too warm unfortunately. However, they sent over an air cooler very soon just that we had to sleep with the noisy fan. Room service was sometimes answered by AI and sometimes real person. Overall a great place to stay!

Overall, it was very good and extremely worth the price. The location is excellent, with an elevator to access the building. The hotel entrance is at the back of the building (not on the main road). Taking the elevator to the 4th floor leads directly to the lobby. The staff doesn’t speak English, but communication is possible through translation apps. The service is satisfactory; the staff isn’t overly eager to assist, but they aren’t rude either. I particularly liked the curtains in the room; there’s a switch at the head of the bed to open and close them. The room door isn’t very soundproof; you can hear people talking outside. However, the walls seem to block sound well, as I didn’t hear any noise from adjacent rooms. Rooms: The room is spacious, making it convenient to open a large suitcase. It has a modern and elegant decor. Cleanliness is acceptable, with housekeeping cleaning daily, though not meticulously. There’s no unpleasant smell and no insects, which is satisfactory. Nearby activities: Nearby is Yuyuan Garden, just a short walk away. It’s a beautifully decorated garden (there’s an entrance fee, 30 yuan per person if I recall correctly) and has various shops around it, such as milk tea shops, yogurt shops, ice cream shops, souvenir shops, restaurants, clothing and shoe stores, etc. Safety: Since it’s near Yuyuan Garden, a tourist attraction, there are quite a few police officers around, making it feel safe to walk at night. Walkability: After exiting the metro and crossing the main road, you reach the building where the hotel is located. Just walk around to the back of the building to find the hotel entrance. It’s very close to the metro. Food & Drinks: There’s a restaurant under the hotel building that’s quite good. I tried the xiaolongbao and noodles there one morning. There’s another restaurant opposite the hotel entrance, and several more in the vicinity. Noteworthy details: The hotel doesn’t provide the following: hair dryer, scales (both personal and luggage), lotion, and refrigerator.

Small ,clean bedroom with window,.... Two single beds have quite a good size, fridendly Service,,.assist with the coffee machine on the 5th floor ,where a spacious commuity room is. Laundary with dryer are Handy there. Robot for food delivery is fun for kids.. Location is convenient, but Taxi is not easy to get onto to the Hotel entrance. Suggest to install more clothes hanging open shelf & wardrobes.

The hotel is within walking distance to Yu Garden. Very beautiful views of the city from the terrace. Now the room itself is cute. That terrace from your room is accessible to the terraces of the other rooms and this is where our problem begins. We had people from two rooms away standing and running on our terrace taking in the views (pictured) - this isn’t the hotel’s fault, the people were just uncouth. My issue with the hotel is the cleanliness. First day you could see dust by the TV and hairs under the bed. We found a TV remote under the bed (clearly they don’t thoroughly clean). And you can audibly hear people from the corridor whenever they walk past and have a conversation outside your door. And there was one day we’d come back to our room from a day out. I kid you not, the things we had left on the bed, they literally covered them with the sheets and made the bed over them LOL! The following day, they didn’t even bother cleaning the room. Bed was left unmade at least they left us some water. These things are fixable but my goodness, it was a lot.
