"The hotel has a great location, within walking distance of the city center square, monastery, and the famous seafood market, just a 2-minute walk away. The castle requires a boat, but it's not far and costs €5. The newly renovated hotel was very clean and tidy. Although the interior space was slightly cramped, the design ensured excellent privacy, and the rooms were spacious and bright, making for a comfortable stay. The breakfast was plentiful, and the coffee was strong. There were two minor drawbacks: firstly, there was no elevator, but the front desk staff were very helpful with luggage – the young lady at the front desk was incredibly efficient, carrying my 30kg suitcase up and down stairs! Secondly, the Wi-Fi signal was weak, although it seemed like the network was slow throughout Setubal. Overall, a very positive experience!"

"The hotel is very well located and honestly everything seemed perfect. The problem here was the hygiene. The closets smelled musty, the blankets/sheets inside the bed were FULL OF HAIR, meaning they just put a clean blanket over the dirty one. The wooden floor made the room shake quite a bit and noisy. The balcony was great with an impeccable view. Otherwise, the staff and the place were spectacular."

"Casa Palmela is set in a truly beautiful location – surrounded by vineyards with stunning views and sunsets that feel very special. Unfortunately, the hotel itself does not live up to the promise of its surroundings, nor to its billing as part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. The rooms and facilities feel dated, with details that don’t match the luxury positioning. The shower only ever ran lukewarm at best, and the swimming pool seemed tired and in need of renovation. The so-called spa looked more like an abandoned trailer left in a back lot of the vineyard than a luxury wellness facility. The restaurant was another major disappointment. The menu is overpriced, the food did not feel fresh, and there was no sense of cooking mastery. Breakfast was equally underwhelming, with very limited options and even eggs charged as an extra. Overall, despite the beautiful natural setting, the hotel falls far short of expectations and offers no real value for money. A luxury label requires more than just a good location – Casa Palmela, sadly, does not deliver."

"A simple but well run and very comfortable hotel more or less in the city centre. Spotlessly clean ; easy and free parking right in front of the hotel ; lovely and helpful staff ; excellent breakfast choice and quality ; and ( literally ! ) five minutes walk from a bunch of reasonably good but inexpensive restaurants. A problem with the lock on our bedroom door was solved within a few minutes even though it was Sunday afternoon. Terrific value for money and we wouldn't hesitate, not for a second, to go back there next time we're in Setubal."

The apartment itself has been refurbished to a high standard, with a good bathroom, a well-equipped kitchen & lots of delightful 'character' touches. Turn left out of the front door & you'll find a wine bar / cafe 20 metres away. It's very popular with ex-pats & visitors because they offer an all-you-can-eat cheese & meat buffet with table wine for €10 per head. Sociable, friendly & recommended."

When I arrived at the hotel they said that the air conditioner was broken, which they could have just called and let me know before, but anyways, they said I could cancel my reservation and get my money back in a week. "Rating of at most 3 stars, or less!!! High price in relation to quality/price. ALL employees without uniforms, they wear a simple t-shirt and jeans, one of them who was working at breakfast was wearing ripped jeans with several cuts, which is poorly presented for a hotel employee. Breakfast with little quantity, slow replenishment. The hotel is under construction, they were passing by with construction materials in the breakfast room. The hotel has no bar, only a vending machine. Complete disappointment, I do not recommend it."
