Villa Gelsomino exceeded our expectations. It is a beautifully restored and maintained historic villa. The hosts/owners could not have been more helpful prior to and during out stay. Unfortunately, we only had three nights. The room was sumptuous and had beautiful views. I believe it was called Cinge Terre. With only about 6 guest rooms, the villa is peaceful and the upper floor has a great sitting room. The main floor has a beautiful terrace where breakfast is usually served. We asked the hotel to make us some restaurant reservation for Santa Margherita, lunch in Portofino and even dinner in Monterosso, They were very efficient and friendly. One day there the weather was windy and rainy, so we opted to relax at the Villa and they fixed us a lovely lunch. There is no staff at night, but there is an honor bar on the main floor if guests wish to have a drink in the villa. The walk into town is short, but there are some steep stairs to and from the hotel. If you arrive or depart by train, the station is only a 5 minute walk but if you have luggage other than a backpack, a taxi is advised. Our room was on the smaller side, but still VERY comfortable. i would recommend Villq Gelsomino and hope to return myself.
