spent 10 nights in The Cala Font. Having read some previous reviews we were a bit concerned but all I can say is anyone who picks fault with anything must be over fussy and looking for 5 star for 3/4 star price. Upon arrival around 12.30 lunchtime we were checked in within 5 minutes and our room was ready for us.which we weren't expecting as check in was 2pm ish. We had room 229 with a pool and part sea view, spotless,large bed mini fridge, safe and lovely bathroom with a really good shower with soap & shampoo provided. Cleaners were in every day sweeping, making beds up and changing towels, great job they do. Breakfast has a good selection of Cold meats, breads, fruit,cereal or bacon, fried and scrambled eggs, sausage,beans and various euro sausages too. 3 types of fruit juice,tea of coffee included. Didn't have lunch but evening meal selection was WOW! lots of pork, beef, fish dishes,pizza, Chips, nuggets and different show cooking nightly. Desert selection from cakes to Mousse, yoghurt, rice pudding, Jelly,profiteroles and sauces, all lovely Anyone that can't find something to eat must be from a different planet. Pool and surrounding area was clean and plenty sunbeds all day, nice wee poolside bar that did drinks and snacks. Hotel looks impressive from the minute you step inside, spotlessly clean and all staff were pleasant and friendly even those with minimal English. My 6th time in Salou/Cap Salou and will definetly be back in the future. A lot for your money, ignore the whingers on here, this place rocks. Good base to get to La Pineda or Salou and beyond.we went to the beach on La Pineda 4 times as its so peaceful and the gentle sloping into the sea made it a pleasure to swim in, around 5 mins on the bus from Cap Salou, on that note get a T10 bus Plana card for 10 Euros for 10 journeys and less.than 7 euros thereafter as opposed to 3 euros per journey on the bus

We have been to this hotel 5 times! Absolutely amazing holiday! Impressive hotel which is always clean, friendly reception/bar staff/cleaners. Great selection of food at breakfast, pool bar and evening meals. Local amenities very convenient: the beach is directly in front of the hotel, shops very close, buses very close, entertainment was excellent, animation team were friendly and fun. We have struck up good relationships with the staff who have worked there since our first trip and who make our holidays extra special. We have always had brilliant rooms with either a pool view or a sea view and will be returning again next year - looking forward to it already!! One most cheapest hotels ever I have visited, no tea coffee facilities or even kettle or mug in the rooms, only two plugs hiding under table you can hardly reach, no tea coffee or even water served on breakfast or lunch. Cheap budget holtel. Avoied this place, it will holiday in hell for you.

Overall good experience and i will certainly consider to be back. I am going to mention few negatives in the hope that the hotel can improve on that: 1. Room: beautiful light decor, but no consideration for guests' convenience. There was not a single drawer or horizontal shelves at least, for storage. There were plenty of hangers for pants and dresses.... but where are we suppose to store some intimate items such as underwear, etc.? Even the bed stands did not have drawers - just tiny shelves that fit nothing. Whoever designed these rooms, should be forced to leave in one of them for a week as a punishment! Additional complain is that there was no tea kettle in the room, and they charged me 12 euro with 20 euro deposit to get one - I could have bought my own for that same money! I've never had to pay for kettle before. It was either present in the room or provided for free upon request. This is not a big expense, but just does not feel good. 2. Bathroom: all liquid dispensers and not even a bar soap. I know they try to be "green", but very many people prefer the bar to a liquid soap. I had to buy one. A small bottle of body cream is preferrable to a built in the wall dispenser since you want to use it in multiple places, not necessarily inconveniently stuck behind the liquid soap and difficult to reach for. Also maybe it is not customary in Europe, but small washclothes would be a welcome addition. 3. Food: it was a good selection of meat and fish. Not sure what the food complaint comments were about. But I was appalled by the practice of being charged for soft drinks and even water at lunch and dinner. I understand charging for alcohol, but the plain water should be provided for free, it is ridiculous to charge for it. I finished up going to eat with my own water bottle but that should not be the case. Why not provide tap water for free if it costs nothing?? 4. Outside: this is my major concern. Despite the fact that the hotel had what looks like its own small beach, there were no beach chairs on the beach - only in the pool area, which is some walking away for those who wants to swim in the sea. All neighborhood hotels had beach chairs, so this one was an exception. Also strange that they do not provide beach towels like any other resort hotel with pool or beach I stayed with. If a theft is a consideration - make sure people are aware that they will be charged if they do not return them... These are the only concerns... The rest was great. Beautiful location near stores, supermarket, bus station and of course the seashore with a walkable area to Salou center. Some entertainment was offered at nights, but we did not attend. I loved the bed with many pillows and fluffy towels. Also friendly personnel, altough room cleaning were touch and go.... On some days, our room was not cleaned until 3pm - by that time we wanted to rest, so we skipped on cleaning. But in general, good experience, and I would definitely consider going back, knowi

Brilliantly placed hotel, if a little hilly. Hotel itself was lovely and clean with friendly staff. The food was ok but not great. I would recommend BnB and having evening meals elsewhere. There was a small gym in the hotel too. I would definitely love to come back

Bit late for the review, sorry. This hotel was great. Food was good and so were the drinks. It is a bit further away from the town center and you need to get a bus / taxi but these are close by. The beach, while small is also very close. Sun loungers are a bit hit and miss, a lot of people would put their towels on them to "reserve" and then leave for breakfast or somewhere and others couldn't find anywhere to sit, so we ended up doing the same. I think management should not allow this practice. Staff were great, I do apologise but I don't remember their names, but all of them were much better than other hotels we went.

Cala font review. This hotel is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues however slight. Hills and steps everywhere. Taxi’s don’t come to the front door for pick up - you have to go up the hill to the main road. The taxi service is abysmal anyway. Neither Salou taxis or La Pineda taxis (situated either side of Cap Salou) want to come out. We waited 1 and a half hours the first time and 1 hour and fifty minutes the second time just to get to Salou. Despite several phone calls to the taxi company and reassurance that we were high priority and next free cab etc. they never arrived! We also went to Pineda and then couldn’t get back easily. We had to ring that specific taxi company and needed more Spanish than I have to tell them what we wanted and where we were. There is a bus station which is up 2 hills from the hotel and down another, but if you are in a wheelchair like me it was impossible to access. Buses are frequent and go all along the coast. Tickets are relatively cheap. The food at Cala Font is very bland and ‘samey, samey every day. And you have to queue to get into the dining room for every meal while they tick your room number off just like being back at school. Self service and fight for a table each time. Lots of Brits here but also lots of Spanish and Germans, so it is nice to hear different languages. The staff are faultless and very efficient, especially all the cleaning staff. Superb!! The rules on towels on sunbeds was not followed by the staff. There is only 1 lifeguard at the pool and if he is distracted there is no one watching the water. There is a bar at the pool but don’t try and take any drinks purchased from there into the dining room to have with dinner. They won’t let you. You have to buy more drinks there. Same hotel and one assumes the same revenue coming in from both departments, so not understanding that. There is a beautiful beach but you have to be really fit to master the hill back up to the hotel.

Just returned from Cala Font... On arrival reception were great, OK only us two checking in... Was told you've got a really nice room, I thought oh god.. But wow brilliant room with sea and pool view... The bed was the best I've ever slept in on holiday, it was huge... Cleaned and changed daily... Staff really friendly food really good, went half board, pool great I think they had a problem with it towards end of holiday with filter as it was getting a bit cloudy so stopped using it... There are unfortunately some rooms that don't have the best views, a wall with no sun on 1st floor or road, on a hill so plenty of road noise... Overall I'd go again as long as we got same room...

Visiting in June,have paid for a sea view and have read on here that the refurbished rooms are a lot nicer, unfortunately nobody has said their specific room number....any help will be appreciated,1st holiday with my Fiancée and want it to be the best possible.thanks folks

Just returned from a five night half-board stay. Hotel is excellent and all the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Stayed in a room overlooking the pool but we also had good views of the cove/sea. Room was spotless and cleaned daily with a change of towels on request (leave them on the bathroom floor). Beds were extremely comfortable with amazing pillows, something very rare these days! We were thankful for the air-conditioning and a fridge to keep drinks cool when temperatures soared. There was lots of dishes to choose from at Breakfast and Dinner, and the quality of the food was great. The bar below reception is really spacious with ample comfy seating to relax. The pool can get quite busy & sun loungers were taken up early morning, but the sandy cove makes for good sunbathing/keeping kids happy and the water is crystal clear & safe for little ones to take a dip if supervised. All in all a great family hotel. Will definitely be returning next year.

We went to hotel Cala Font 27th September for a week half board. When we arrived at the hotel our rooms were not yet ready but we had read this beforehand. When we eventually got in the rooms about an hour or so later (approx 2pm) the rooms we were given were beautiful. We had been given pool/sea view rooms and the view was stunning, we had not paid to upgrade to these rooms so it was a nice surprise as I had seen other peoples views from the lift which wasn't so good. The food really lets this hotel down, there was 4 of us I am a picky eater anyway so knew I would struggle but the rest are not and really struggled to put together a meal in the evenings. The bacon and eggs were dripping in oil at breakfast as well. Microwave was filthy and you was waiting a while for the waiters to clear tables. The entertainment was very mediocre we had a live singer, karaoke, a dancer etc it starts at 10pm which is quite late! The location itself is very secluded, 45 min walk into Salou which is so much busier. Around the hotel there is hills everywhere to go in any direction you're going up or down steep hills and back up the other side. There is a pharmacy opposite the hotel and round a bit, a bit further down there was a good place to eat a few doors down from the Irish bar, they do usual english meals plus some spanish and Indian food, we ate there most lunches and one or two evenings that was lovely would highly recommend, great value for money and service. Pint of lager at the hotel is 3 euro. Hotel itself is clean the rooms are lovely and beautiful view if you get pool view. Beach stunning also just at the end of the street. We wouldn't return to this hotel due to the food and location.

When we were dropped off by the Transfer company, we had to walk to the hotel which was very difficult with our luggage as its very hilly, would have been nice to be dropped off in front of the hotel! First impressions were of the lobby, very nice and modern, we arrived quite late around midnight, checked in, was quite surprised that we had to hire a kettle as there are no tea making facilities in the rooms. We had a lovely room on the 4th floor overlooking the sea, it was lovely to lie in bed and see the sea right in front of us. The room was clean but somewhat outdate, there was only one double socket in the room where the tv and fridge were plugged in, luckily we brought an adapter so were able to use that to charge our phones one at a time. We tried to switch the table lamp on only to find the the lead lead to nowhere as there was no socket so I guess it was just for show! Now where do I start with the food! It was the worst food I had ever had in any hotel I have stayed in. It was repetitive, bland and of poor quality. There was little choice at dinner time and no drinks were included with your meal. The breakfast was a little better with a choice of warm breakfast and continental. We ended up eating out or getting a takeaway pizza as we could not stomach the food. The hotel is situated in front of a lovely cove, Plenty of sunbeds, we never had a problem getting one. A nice quiet location and a short bus ride into Salou town Centre if you fancied somewhere a bit more livelier I would advise not to stay half board as you would be wasting your money but the sea view room and location made up for the lack of decent food. Lots of Spanish holiday makers in the hotel. No entertainment whatsoever around the pool. The bar was a bit dull for me, felt like I was in a old peoples home. I would not stay here again, but if you are looking for somewhere quiet to stay then this would be for you!

The food was very substandard. Not once did we manage to have hot food. There was a diabetic table which my husband saw the staff taking normal deserts (full sugar) and putting them on the diabetic table as they had run out and it didn't really matter! The whole fruit in the morning was bad, mouldy, scabby and rotten at the core. Not nice getting a mouthful. After two evening meals we ended up eating out. In the bar I returned a glass as it had lipstick on it and the second glass was thick with dust - the set off a full Basil Faulty moment with the barman making sure the whole bar knew he was washing a glass for the fussy woman. The rooms have no drawers at all - so no where to put underwear ect away. Everything just has to be left out. The hanging space has no doors and is not tall enough to hang knee length dresses or skirts . The walls are so thin you can hear all conversations in the next room. I will say that the pool area is kept pristine and the pool bar staff where friendly and helpful.

When we first arrived we had a tiny room with a view of a wall, room was lovely and modern but you could hardly walk around the room it was that small, it wasnt suitable for 3, complained and was upgraded to a bigger room with a sea view, exactly the right size for us. They're was sand in the bed so I wondered if they even changed the sheets after the last person. Food was basic, my kids wouldn't eat it, most days we ate out, I wouldn't do half board again here. Pool bar didn't have much, pizza wasn't available for most of our stay, mostly ham and cheese toasties and the bar men who make them don't wash their hands or wear gloves when preparing food, was surprised due to them holding money and doing bar duties. Pool didn't open until 10am, 2 life gards job shared, one allowed floaties in the pool the other didn't, personally I don't like the big floaties in the pool as they can be dangerous and block our view from our kids, Someone in a floatie actually went over my child and pushed them under. We didn't spend to much time here, we mostly used the hotel to sleep and wash, all around we enjoyed the experience, nice location, staff were nice, you pay for what you get I suppose. ☆☆☆
