Gorgeous hotel right on the beach. Friendly staff. The room was lovely with a slipper bath. Everything very clean. The food was very excellent especially the breakfasts. We walked into Salcombe from the hotel then caught the water taxi back. We were so lucky to have dry sunny weather to make the most of the amazing views. If you want to go and recharge your batteries I would definitely recommend this hotel. Dogs are welcome and the facilities are very well thought out.

We booked South Sands hotel for a four night Easter break with our dog. From the moment we contacted the hotel to make the booking till the time we left the staff were enthusiastic, professional, friendly and delivered excellent service. Our room was a Dragon room overlooking the sea and we woke to watch a perfect sun rise. We ate pretty much all our meals over the four days in the hotel and cannot fault anything. The menu provides an excellent selection of choices , good portion size and all very tasty. Having a dog with us caused no issues for the hotel , their staff or fellow guests. In fact having dogs around gave the hotel a relaxed and mellow feel. As a seasoned traveler and regular hotel guest it is not often I would say at after the four days at South Sands I cannot find any fault with our stay, in fact we are looking forward to our next visit. Exceptional experience. 👍

What a wonderful little hotel this is. Tucked away in a small cove right on the beach with amazing sea views, we were so lucky to find it. The staff were excellent - friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was very comfortable with a rocking chair looking out of the full length french windows to the stunning view of the cove. High quality toiletries were in the bathroom and we had fresh milk in the fridge. The food in the restaurant was excellent, as was breakfast. We really couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay.

The perfect getaway! Great and beautiful location, excellent customer service, delicious food and varied menu, welcoming and warm with the addition of a log fire on a wet and windy day - what more could you wish for. Thank you South Sands everything was perfect and we will be back again.

What can I say? A fabuloius hotel, gorgeous comfy rooms, stunnning views in a beautiful location and run with amazing staff. Oh, and the food is pretty wonderful, too. I have absolutely no hesitation in giving this marvellous place a glowing review. Good service deserves thanks. We just spent a long anniversary weekend there in one of their dragon rooms overlooking the bay (Room8), and adored every moment. Thank you for a memory we shall never forget, and an experience to savour all our lives. Would love to come back one day. If only more hotels were like you.

We booked just one night away from the kids. Mid-January so weather wasn’t great but it’s lovely cozy hotel. Salcombe is easily walkable and the views are fantastic. The food in the restaurant was very good, both the evening meal and breakfast were excellent and the views looking out of the beach and across the estuary from the table really make it. Very enjoyable stay.

Had a fantastic family lunch at South Sands. Staff were very helpful to accommodate our large family including 2 dogs and a baby. Everyone loved their food. Crab linguine was amazing! Staff were so helpful to plate up the baby’s leftover lunch and find out the recipe! We will definitely return!

We booked the Chris**as package at South Sands and went with another couple plus dogs of course! We had a really lovely time and couldn’t fault the hotel in any way. The staff are friendly and fun, food just too good, the room we had was lovely and with the great view of the sea. We have been to South Sands in the past and will continue to do so whenever possible. Thank you everyone for a lovely Chris**as.

Devon is renowned for cream teas but in recent years many places have stopped serving the full experience of a pot of tea and scones and cream and jam on a proper plate, pot of tea and cup. Well the South Sands hotel hotel offers the full experience and views to die for - the best cream tea views ever. Service was relaxed but professional. The scones were beautiful and loads of cream and jam to pile onto them. It fulfilled my full expectations and can recommend for a local Salcombe cream tea.
