West End Guest House

A lovely, well-maintained small guest house with excellent facilties. Our room was compact but perfectly adequate for a short stay. The ensuite was cleverly tucked up a couple of steps. Our breakfast was perfectly cooked and presented. The only factor missing was the warmth of hospitality. We did not appreciate the petty Do's and Don't notices; the requirement to indicate a precise time for breakfast and the specific menu the evening before, and, most of all, the rude interruption of our breakfast with a request to settle our account ! With a warmer, friendlier atmosphere this would be a 5-star guest house.

Positives - lovely property, bedroom and bathroom and cleanliness great. Negatives - phoned to say we were on our way and they advised you need to be here by 6.30 as we are going out a bit strange given they knew we were going so didn’t feel very welcoming to start with. Pre ordered breakfast I ordered muffins with poached eggs, ham and hollandaise but at breakfast was presented with my dish but told no hollandaise as I can’t get and couldn’t make, I wasn’t offered something else just presented with the dish. It is my favourite dish but the hollandaise makes it so I was disappointed. At the end of breakfast we were asked “same again tomorrow” I said yes hoping by tomorrow she would have hollandaise if she knew I was ordering it again but no it was the same and no explanation this time. On the last morning the owner started cleaning the other tables with cleaning spray whilst we were still eating which got the back of my throat and gave us both the impression she wanted us to finish asap. Overall not a great experience and we won’t return or recommend.

We have just returned from a three nights stay.brillant thanks to Emma and Mark! lovely comfortable spotlessly clean room and the best breakfast ever with so much to choose from.friendly hosts and nothing to much trouble.we will definitely be back

This is a perfect guest house. The hosts are so welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. Our room was lovely, could not fault a thing! All the little extra touches just made this a fabulous stay. The house is immaculately clean. Free parking too, and just a short walk into Richmond. Breakfast was also great!

We stopped at west end house on the way up to Scotland, even in our short stay we were wowed by the rooms and setting. The couple couldn’t be anymore helpful and welcoming with excellent service! Would definitely recommend!

a very clean and quiet guest house , just a short walk to the town centre where you will find plenty to do. very friendly hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them . we stayed in room 4 which was very clean and tidy with great deco , king-size bed was comfortable we had a great sleep , bathroom was a good size with shower . a pre ordered breakfast was first class with good quality products . next time we want to visit Richmond we will definitely stay here again 10/10 also great position for walks along the river .
