"Check-in was a little odd here, and it took a while to get sorted. The hot water wasn't working right in the hotel room; my husband was able to communicate this in his limited Spanish to the employee and this was resolved. We chose to stay in Tababela because we had an early flight in the morning. There was a soccer game across the street making quite a bit of noise, but we were able to drown that out with our noise machine. And then, a bunch of kids showed up in a party bus to have a pool party in the evening. Afterwards, they proceeded to run around the hotel grounds slamming doors. We had to change rooms in the middle of the night to move to a different building that was separate from this large group that was staying here. There is a gate that needs to be manually opened so we needed to wake the guy up in the morning to let us out."

"This French country inn in the heart of the Mariscal district of Quito Ecuador is absolutely charming. The design and furnishing are wonderful. The staff is exceptional. They serve a very special breakfast which includes a genuine croissant beurre made fresh on the premises. We have stayed in two different lovely rooms and other family members travelling at other times have stayed in others all equally well-appointed. They even offer rates for longer term stays which are very tempting. Room 11 has an adorable little terrace on which to enjoy the normally sunny Quito mornings. It also includes a kitchenette in which you can cook a basic meal and which is really tempting for spending a week or a month in. Room 9 has a fireplace and a private garden outside the exterior door. A plus is a quite good Peruvian restaurant across the street but it's in a neighborhood filled with good restaurants. Chandani Tandoori is within walking distance and has very credible Indian food with a talent for adjusting the level of spice for different palates."

"I just spent 3 nights at the Viajero Quito, and it’s probably the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Great location, great shower, comfortable private room. The hostel has its own restaurant and bar/common area, and tons of outdoor space as well. What stands out though, is the effort from the staff. All friendly and helpful, and they host free activities daily. Two options in the evening that change every day, and a free walking tour (mostly about free samples) every day. Thanks to Adrian in the restaurant, Grace for the educational candy tasting and fruit tasting sessions, and Jonathan for the fun salsa lesson."

"It is not as good as the introduction. The sanitary environment is poor and the noise is very loud at night. The price is also on the high side. There are many such hotels nearby and the prices are right. The environment is also better. It is recommended to take a look around."

My room was quiet, stylish, and very comfortable, with a serene garden view that made me feel instantly relaxed. Breakfast each morning was fresh, generous, and thoughtfully prepared. The entire experience felt safe, polished, and perfectly cared for. If you’re looking for elegance, cleanliness, and world-class service, Hotel Villa Lafayette is simply the best choice in Ecuador. I would return in a heartbeat!"
