The Grand Hotel

Not Grand stayed for 2 nights, bed uncomfortable,blinds broken in room so no sleep due to a light shining into the room.water pressure poor. Carpets filthy not been vacuumed needs some money spent on it. Lamp in room faulty everything is very dated

Me and a friend of mine went to have a drink and the next day we got banned and we won't even tell us why. They give us no reason. We didn't even do anything wrong. Very disappointing. Bad management. We had a wedding there a couple of months ago we trusted them and they threw it back in our face by banning us for no reason

The best, special, amazing, fantastic, fun, enjoyable wedding day, vows, party ever filled with love, happiness. Will be locked in our thoughts, dreams, memories to stay for eternity. Will definitely lift our mood/spirit if we have a bad day!!

We broke down just outside Port Talbot and managed to get our car to The Grand Hotel. We spent the night there waiting for breakdown recovery. The staff were incredibly friendly - we felt so welcome and this made a difficult night into an adventure. We loved the space - it is bright and cheerful with a great style including some really interesting art by a local artist called Bert Evans. We had a drink - which we really needed. I cannot thank the amazing staff enough for coming to our rescue. They were professional and kind. Thank you so much to everyone at The Grand.

£70 for a room is overpriced. Everywhere was dirty or grubby, blinds in the rooms broken/mouldy. The carpets not hoovered. The bedding and towels were clean. Signs everywhere saying the hotel was under a re-vamp??. Breakfast disappointing, coffee cold, toaster took ages to toast bread. No jam/ marmalade, hash browns cold and soggy. However the staff at reception and bar were so lovely and friendly. The lift was out of order, my 80 year old mum just about managed to get up and down the stairs to the first floor. Nobody told us we had to use the back entrance to get into Hotel at 11.30pm

We had booked two rooms for our family of four at this hotel. The good news was that the car park was free, which was a relief. Our experience with the rooms varied; the first room was acceptable, but the second room was great, possibly due to recent refurbishment. Overall, we were satisfied with the accommodation. The hotel itself had a rich history, and the building had a lot of character and space. However, there were some noticeable drawbacks. The corridor carpets were in a sorry state and desperately needed cleaning. We also observed several kids playing in the stairways, landings, and corridors, which wasn't ideal. There were even ladders and bicycles left in the stairway, making it seem cluttered and disorganiSed. Later, we discovered that the hotel was accommodating people from abroad due to an ongoing war. While we understood the situation, it would have been considerate if the hotel had informed us of this during check-in. Our stay took an unfortunate turn when there was a wedding party with music at full blast. My 74-year-old mother struggled to sleep, and our room seemed to vibrate with the noise. We complained to the reception, but they informed us that they couldn't do anything, and we'd have to endure the noise until the party ended. The following morning, we went down for breakfast and were surprised to learn that the hotel only offered continental breakfast. We were directed to their sister hotel 15 MINUTES AWAY for a hot breakfast. This information should have been clearly stated on the website or communicated during check-in. Additionally, the hotel's Wi-Fi was quite poor, which added to our list of grievances. Effective communication is crucial, and the hotel needs to address these issues promptly. The staff also seemed unprepared to handle various customer inquiries, indicating a need for better training. While the hotel has the potential to be great once it's fully refurbished, until then, they must focus on addressing these basic issues to ensure a more pleasant stay for their guests..
