I recently stayed at Slebech Park Estate and felt compelled to share my experience, especially given some of the harsher reviews out there. I wanted to provide a fair and balanced perspective on our stay. First off, we stayed in Dulcane 1, which is advertised as one of their “Top-Notch” rooms and I must say, the room exceeded my expectations. Contrary to some reviews I've seen, it was impeccably clean and beautifully designed with a thoughtful layout that made our one-night stay quite enjoyable. The room had a certain charm due to the estate's age, which only added to its character. For the value we received, I felt the pricing was reasonable. The only downside was the water pressure; both the shower and bath had less pressure than I’d prefer, and the hot water didn't quite reach the ideal temperature. While that might have been a hassle for a longer stay, it was manageable for us. Worth mentioning that it was a birthday treat and for an extra charge of £20 they decorated the room with a banner, balloons, and a box of 6 cupcakes. A fair price I thought. Not sure if the cupcakes were homemade (they didn’t look it) which would have been a real classy touch. Now, onto the restaurant, which is probably where my experience took a downturn. Having read various reviews beforehand, I went in with an open mind, hoping for a delightful dining experience. The atmosphere was lively (some reviews criticised the ambience), as the restaurant was quite busy during our visit—not surprising given their AA Rosette accolades. However, I was left feeling underwhelmed by the menu. It struck me as rather basic, leaning towards pub-style grub. I was disappointed to find several items unavailable, including some wines, which should not be the case on a busy summer evening. I initially had my heart set on steak, but when I learned they were out, I opted for the burger instead. While it was decent, I’ve certainly had better elsewhere. It’s worth noting that the restaurant does serve homegrown vegetables, which is a nice touch, but I felt the menu could have done a much better job of showcasing this local produce with creative, standout dishes. As for the service, while the staff were generally pleasant, they seemed not very well-versed in the menu specifics, which detracted from the overall experience. Check-in was straightforward, but check-out was less so; I found myself searching for someone to assist and was told casually to drop off the key card in a box—hardly the farewell I was expecting. One good thing was that you had the option for breakfast to be served in your room. Breakfast was not bad, we had the estate cooked breakfast with all the usual trimmings and at £9.50 very reasonable. Despite these critiques, I would absolutely consider staying at Slebech Park Estate again. The location is stunning, and the estate has so much potential. With some improvements in the restaurant offerings and a bit more attentiveness to front desk service, it could elevate th
