New Hotel République

The hotel was absolutely lovely. Our room was spotlessly clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel was quiet and charming. We purchased the breakfast option which met all of our needs with a good selection of fresh fruit, English style breakfast as well as European. There was one very crusty gentleman on the desk at night, who was unprofessional, (complaining about the new management, saying they were too cheap to put coffee in the room, and we couldn’t have an additional packet of instant, even though only one had been provided etc., ) bordering on rude, and this is the reason for my four star rating instead of five.  The day staff was exceptional – very helpful.  On the second day, the coffee was automatically provided lol – day one was just an oversight. 

We booked the Prestige Room after seeing enticing photos on ******* that clearly showed a private balcony—one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. Unfortunately, upon arrival, we discovered that our room had no balcony, despite what was advertised. After raising the issue with the front desk, we were offered a smaller room that did include a balcony, but it was a downgrade in size and amenities. To make matters worse, there was a room that matched the original description, but its door was broken and deemed unusable. We were left with no choice but to accept the smaller room. Throughout this frustrating experience, no compensation was offered for the downgrade or the inconvenience. I would caution future guests to double-check room details and not rely solely on the photos provided online.

Enjoyed this boutique hotel! So much character and charm. Located on quiet street, rooms are good size with lots of outlets to charge electronics. The bathroom was beautiful and large. There is a lift. Breakfast offered nice variety from pastries to meats and cheeses. Coffee machine made everything from cappuccino to hot chocolate. Staff was super nice and accommodating.
