Pousada do Príncipe

This hotel is in a great location, easy walk to the old town but not too noisy at night and handy for local amenities and shops. It is set around an attractive courtyard and all the rooms look out onto the pool. The room was rather on the small side with no sitting area, not really anywhere to put the cases and only some hanging pegs. Having said that it had a fridge and a safe (with a very old fashioned key) and it did have AC but this was extremely noisy. It was really hot when we arrived as they had left the window open but it soon cooled down. There was also plentiful hot water in the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. There is a grating between the bathroom and the corridor which can't be isolated and if there are other noisy guests it's very audible. Reception were a little bit lacklustre but the guy who looked after the breakfast was amazing, so friendly and helpful, and also had better English than the reception staff. Breakfast was good for a small hotel, with plenty fresh fruit and a selection of interesting breads and pastries. There was some hot food and they could make you an omelette. The selection changed every day, and they will cut up exotic fruit from the bowl for you. The pool was very nice and warm with some seating around it. Unfortunately the hotel is big enough to take small groups and this meant breakfast could be crowded and noisy if you hit the same time as the group.

This hotel has an old European feeling to it. The lobby/ reception areas are nicely decorated and give you that old antique feeling. The staff was very nice and polite. The onsite restaurant has easy access to the pool area. The guess quarters, though nicely put together, should only be for single occupancy and not double. The rooms are too small for two people plus luggage. Also, the toilet room is extremely small, so if you have some size on you, you won't fit inside. The wall unit AC is very loud, plus the ceiling fan is squeaky.

Loved this property . The room was small but had comfortable kingsize bed with window overlooking the pool. Small hanging clothes area and large shower with hot water. Fridge in room and safe. The lock and key provided at reception free. There was air con and ceiling fan. The breakfast selection was good. Pool area lovely - even saw a fashion photo shoot there one evening. Between 5 to 7 pm there was happy hour of 2 Caiprahanas for 16 R$ The bar man was lovely & drinks delicious and nice open lounge air. Staff lovely and receptionist spoke some English. Good location to walk into historic quarter. There is evening restaurant but we never ate there. Also TV in room but no English . Free wi fi good.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, good beds and friendly staff! Especially the barman Thomas, was really great with his service. Although a few cocktails I ordered were not on the menu, he made them anyway, with a big smile. Good job Thomas, really enjoyed your rum sour! Ruben Dries

- Recepcionista mal humorada; - Quarto não estava pronto no check in (às 15 horas); - Não informam que a partir das 19h se voce não tem reserva no restaurante, você é expulsa; - Passei o dia fora e quando retornei (às 17h ) o quarto não tinha sido arrumado; - Frigobar fica em baixo da pia do banheiro, ao lado da porta do vaso sanitário; - Internet Ruim; - Solicitei informações sobre onde lanchar e me indicaram apenas duas, com má vontade; - Solicitei informações sobre passeios e demoraram horas para me informar.

Estivemos no feriado de 15 de nov na pousada. A estrutura é realmente muito boa e a localização também. Escolhi por conta da história, beleza, recomendações( aqui e blogueiros ), piscina maravilhosa e espaço. Pontos negativos : não peguem os quartos de frete para a rua, o barulho da rua e da recepção 24 hrs atrapalha bem. É uma pousada que recebe muitos estrangeiros e a conversa rola até tarde em vários idiomas ( rs); outro ponto negativo é a iluminação no banheiro / espelhos: por se uma estrutura antiga a iluminação é indireta e deixa a desejar, até pra aquela make básica fica difícil. Não sei se são todos quartos ma o que ficamos a parte molhada do banheiro não tem porta e é separada do wc- se estiver com amigos/ parentes - o banho fica a vista. Café da manhã : área maravilhosa , decoração impecável, muito agradável e aconchegante, porém pelo nível e $ da pousada poderiam ter mais opções (bolos / sucos/ iogurtes ) não tem bacon, e pão de queijo não rola ( sou de MG aí já viu né) Apesar de ter pego chuva todos os dias ( feriado 15/11) a pousada foi muito acolhedora no clima, a área de piscina é ótima - espaçosa - com prima estrutura ( água não aquecida) . Cama e rouparia sensacional! Voltarei em época sem chuva- e em quarto longe do barulho.
