"Stayed here before and it seemed not too bad but we where put in the first room to the left when this time and needless to say it out us off coming back , the bed was dated the headboard wasn't for the same bed and wasn't even attached to the bed , the side table was chipped and damaged , the toilet attached to the room was like prison cell toilet, the top covers of the taps where not on and inside the taps where grotty , the decor was 70s style woodchip , we didn't even bother with breakfast even though it was included in the price, sadly won't return pay a little extra for something better around oban "

Oban Youth Hostel

"This is a stunningly good youth hostel. We stayed in a family room and had comfy beds, warmth, a shower and toilet, and most importantly a huge window looking out at the sea and the bay. There are lovely hanging out rooms downstairs, with equally lovely views. And a great kitchen and dining area. The staff were so friendly and helpful too. A really great place to stay in Oban!"

"We had to change our travel plans at the last minute and were extremely lucky find a vacancy and spend the night here. The hosts, Darren and Karen, provide a warm welcome, very comfortable rooms, and a delicious breakfast. Added to that, there are stunning views from the breakfast room, and often creatures like rabbits, voles and pine marten just outside on the patio. With an excellent hotel and National Trust for Scotland gardens less than 2 minutes stroll away you don't have to travel far to enjoy this stunning corner of Scotland. Our hosts had an enormous library of guidebook, plus personal knowledge of the region to provide advice on how we could enhance our visit. With the delicious homemade breakfast accompaniments, it felt that Darren and Karen do go the extra mile to ensure guests enjoy their sta"

Muthu Queens Hotel

"This Hotel fell short in so many ways. Travelling for 6 weeks in the UK and this had been the most disappointing. The lift didn’t work, the TV didn’t work and took several trips up and down the stairs and 3 hrs later to get someone to come. Exhausted after travelling we just wanted to rest. I’ve got a bad knee and degenerative arthritis so I only book hotels with lifts (no email to say it was out of order) and naturally with a large 26kg bag for Scotland’s hot and cold weather and no staff to get my bag up it was bloody awful. The room was in the add on so 6 fire doors, 2 hallways, two sets of 2 flights of stairs later I was already in pain. My mate had hers brought up but then the guy just left! After the tv debacle they replaced the TV after 2 remotes and offered the 4th floor! more steps- no thanks. The main light wouldn’t turn on, it just flickered like a strobe disco and they just smiled and said yes we know thankyou. No USB’s and no adapters (yes we had our own but every hotel has supplied so far). No bar staff with a beautiful bar and lounge area, you have to ask reception and wait til they can get to you. 29min for a g&t after a long day out walking. On return each day the key didn’t work so back down the stairs we go; to be told you must have had it near your phone. We said it’s still in its cupboard folder in a pocket in my bag-locked away, no where near a phone. Receptionist replies“ you must have”. Breakfast was good enough and the wait staff at breakfast were lovely. Evening reception not so much. Well appointed room. Overall Don’t do it to yourself without checking where you are actually staying!! I suggest the family have written the great reviews we read or stayed in the original section when the lift used to work????"

Falls of Lora Hotel

"I had lunch yesterday with 2 friends and my dog When making the reservation I was assured that the hotel was dog friendly I provided a bowl and asked the barman if I could please have water for the dog I was shocked when he said NO in case water gets spilled on the carpet Unless I'm mistaken water does not stain! I think management should review their policy on allowing dogs on their premises Because of the action of this barman I felt uncomfortable and will never be back"

"Stayed at the hotel from 24th to 27th March. The room was very good, neat and tidy with very comfortable bed. The toilet was clean and shower easy to use. Had breakfast each morning with good menu choice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Stayed on an Itison deal which was very good value for money. The hotel is situated close to all amenities. I highly recommend this hotel."

Palace Hotel - Small Hotel

"The room overall was okay. I thought I booked for a queen bed but instead had room 14 with twins. My wife and I never slept apart except for trips and we pushed the beds together. Very hard to move. There were no instructions for how to use the European hot water device and had to take a cup bath.THE BAD part was the climb up the stairs 4 flights of stairs for room 14. Room 14 has great views but not worth the climb."
