We really enjoyed our experience at the New York Edition. Despite a few drawbacks, we definitely had a pleasant stay. We loved the residential and cozy design. Every space was well executed, modern, and clean. All the staff were kind and courteous. The service was not over the top but still very solid and all our requests were promptly handled. The dining was also solid, we enjoyed everything. Once again nothing was exceptional but still very good. Unfortunately, the hotel is starting to show its age and has not been well maintained. Interestingly enough, the general design of everything is very much up to date but the spaces haven’t been well taken care of and there is a lot of wear and tear everywhere. Everything is in need of resurfacing and a new paint job. Large dings on walls, wear and tear on furniture, peeling and browned adhesive in all white showers. Despite this, we felt that the furniture in the bedrooms and sofas in the room were fine… A refresh in the lobby and bathrooms is needed. Additionally, the front door area was understaffed. The bellmen were great but there weren’t enough on staff. Most of the time there one to open car door or proactively take care of luggage. For some nights costing 1000+ plus this is absolutely unacceptable and something even the W hotel in Union Square is able to do for a third of the price. Finally, while we loved our corner room which had massive windows in the bathroom we thought that there was definitely enough space for a true separation between the toilet and shower (great shower btw) and it seems like the choice was just not made to have that. Overall we did enjoy our stay and would definitely stay here again if the price was right. It definitely isn’t a 1k dollar a night hotel but 600 seems about right considering you are paying a premium for the locations

Great hotel, with excellent service and very nice rooms for Manhattan. I am a big fan of the EDITION hotel style, so there is not much to comment on that because they are pretty much uniform. I love their smell, and when I told the front office team, they gave me the Edition candle with the signature scent, which was a very nice little gesture and also a memory of that stay in my apartment now. I love the location as well, pretty busy area, but Madison Square Park is a nice place to chill a little bit and the Eately around the corner is great for breakfast, lunch, or a snack.

Busy front desk - we arrived at 5 and had plans at 6 - were told we had to wait for a room. They got the room quickly - lots of people were waiting but at the rate for the hotel and that the reservation should start at 4 - I don’t really find this acceptable. Flatiron is a great area to stay.

This was hands down the best experience I have ever had at a hotel. We got married on April 12, 2024. We stayed at this hotel, along with our family and friends, from 4/11/2024 to 4/14/2024. I am SO glad that we chose Hotel Edition on Madison Ave. The customer service is impeccable. Their entire team is sooo professional here. They went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable. First-class here, and they make you feel like royalty. The rooms are also so nice, and I loved the shower & bath. The bed was so comfy, too. Also, they gifted us robes with monogrammed Mr. and Mrs. on them, which I attached a photo of with this review. It shows they go the extra mile for people, and it meant a lot to us. We love the housekeeping, valet, and all staff we interacted with. Willy, Diego, and Juan were so helpful and friendly throughout our stay. After the experience we had with them, we plan to use this hotel whenever we want a staycation and a few nights away! We can’t wait to go back.

We just stayed at the Edition, and it's OK. It's chic in its austerity, with a black/white/beige color scheme, with generously proportioned spaces. We arrived at 5pm (4pm is check-in), and we waited 20 minutes for our room to be ready. I've given up on the idea that I will ever be upgraded at a Marriott hotel in NYC as a Platinum Elite member so I wasn't disappointed when it didn't happen. We got to the room and the otherwise polite receptionist had not coded our keys correctly, so we couldn't get in initially. Housekeeping let us in. Pros: -Location is great. We used to live in NYC and like that area of town, and subways are convenient to get. -Our room was comfortable enough for a night, not small, and the bed was comfortable. -A/C was good. -Despite facing Madison Square and 23rd street, we heard barely any noise. -The staff is polite. Not warm, but polite. Cons: -The destination fee is rude for a room of that cost. Our receptionist invited us to have a drink in the bar after we waited 20 minutes for our room in the lobby with our bags. I thought it was a comp for our having to wait, but he handed us a card explaining that we had already paid for the drinks with our destination fee - so, it's a bit of a false invite. Not his fault, it's just a rude policy that will prevent my returning. Presenting an invite for additional hospitality you have no choice but to pay for isn't really hospitality. -Tea or coffee in the room would have been nice. There was a article in the NYT recently quoting a sommelier as saying that working in a restaurant used to be mostly about hospitality, but now it's mostly about sales. I left the Edition feeling that her sentiment must be relevant in hotels, too.
