"DO NOT BOOK. I REPEAT, DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. I was on a 2-day transit visa in Sri Lanka and, after exploring Colombo, decided to spend my night in Negombo before my flight. After looking through the photos and reviews, I chose Hotel J Negombo. That turned out to be a huge mistake. I booked a Standard Room and checked in around 2:30 PM. The only positive thing was that I got the room immediately. Everything else went downhill from there. The room was extremely compact, had no windows, and was filled with a strong mouldy smell that hit me the moment I opened the door. With no fresh air or ventilation, the room felt suffocating. The hospitality was equally disappointing. No one offered to show me the room, no one helped with my luggage, and they don't even provide complimentary bottled mineral water. Instead, they leave a jug filled from an RO water dispenser outside. There were no basic bathroom amenities—no toothbrush, no toothpaste, nothing. The room itself was in terrible condition: - The commode was broken. - The bathroom lights didn't work. - There wasn't even an exhaust fan—just a tiny hole in the wall for ventilation. - The blanket was so thin it barely served its purpose. - Mosquitoes made the stay even more uncomfortable. To be honest, the room felt creepy rather than welcoming. The most frustrating part is that this hotel isn't even cheap. It's priced similarly to much better hotels in the area, making it even harder to justify the poor quality. I had booked the room for one night, but I couldn't bear staying inside. I spent my evening sitting on the beach until around 11:30 PM, only returning to the hotel because I needed somewhere to sleep for a few hours before my flight. I woke up around 3:00 AM and left for the airport, even though my flight wasn't until 9:00 AM, simply because I couldn't wait to get out of that room. The checkout experience summed up the entire stay. There wasn't a single staff member at the reception. I handed my room key to the security guard and left. Please don't let the photos fool you. There are far better hotels in Negombo for the same price. Save your money, save your holiday, and stay somewhere else. 0/10. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE. Trip.com I have huge respect and I love your platform, do not list these kind of hotels and fool us, feeling completely lost with my hard earned money"

"The location is good, close to the beach. The room wasn't very clean, the Wi-Fi was poor, but it was okay for an overnight stay. The bed was large and there was soap. You can enter either through the cafe or through a large gate that someone opens. There's water in the back, which probably attracts insects. We had a huge cockroach in our room. I didn't take photos. The window was small and near the ceiling, and the bathroom door was difficult to open—you had to push it hard. There were a towel, chairs, and an electrical outlet."

"No one answered when I rang the hotel doorbell, and when I called, a staff member came about 30 minutes later and told me that we were the only guests booked that day and that the electricity wouldn't work. I booked it simply because it was close to the airport, but the location is hard to find and there are no shops nearby. Also, the hotel garden was unkempt, full of weeds, and swarming with mosquitoes. I told the staff member who came that I would cancel if there was no electricity. After I booked another hotel and headed there, the owner called and told me to come back because they would turn on the electricity. Furthermore, they said they wouldn't refund my money if I didn't stay. You should absolutely not stay here."

"I spent two nights at JAP for a relaxing getaway before heading back home to the US. It was wonderful. The hotel grounds are beautiful, and enhance the sense of calm. My villa was lovely, with a private verandah and garden where you could choose to have your treatments. I had two hours of treatments each day (my package included treatments and breakfast). The massages and treatments with Ruwan were exceptional. He had excellent skills and was able to almost eliminate a very painful jaw condition, as well as find and address various other stress points. I would return just to be treated by him again. The food was delicious and healthful. You have a choice of following the diet recommended by the Aryuvedic doctor or order from a menu. I enjoyed both. There are also many choices of food and restaurants within a short walk. The staff were uniformly friendly and welcoming and guests are also allowed to use the pool at their sister property, Jetwing Blue, which is just 400 meters away. They also have morning yoga and evening meditation for guests. Thanks to everyone, and especially Ruwan, for an excellent stay."

"Do not book this place, I had a confirmed booking, when I arrived from India, initially the attendant, told me there's no booking, after trying to contact flipkart and clear trip whise customer support is equally pathetic, after some time she checked her mail and said there is booking but no room available, later she gave me a single bed room, which was not yhe toom i booked, the lady was continously demanding me to either tale the room or leave the property. As I was tired and there was no support from flipkart or clear trip, was forced to take the room. The room condition is also poor the ac doesn't work, no kettle, wifi is pathetic namesake only. The fan squeaks. Do not book this place, as it was midnight I really had no option the ans from cleartrip and the property attendant was take the room or cancel the booking was pathetic, Just to save a few bucks please do not fall in the similar mess I am in. Stay clear......."

"Such a lovely place to stay. Great view over the lagoon, watch the fishermen boats drifting by, sunsets are so beautiful. What made my stay so special was the host.He was so kind, even woke up before sunrise to walk me to the bus station making sure I could then travel on safetly yo my next destination. Room had a fan but srill found it a bit hot. It did not worry me anout the cold shower as it was quite a relief. Clean room and comfy bed. Definitely come and stay here."
