Upon arrival to the hotel, there is no denying the fact it’s impressive. It’s clearly new and situated opposite what seems to be a building site (don’t worry about the noise, after 7 days here we saw only 2 people and they were not working). Going into reception was a little daunting, had to place all belongings through a scanner before being allowed in, not a huge issue for us, we’ve nothing to hide and would prefer our hotel of choice was as safe as possible. Upon reaching the reception, the staff seemed unenthusiastic, but our check-in was relatively quick which we were grateful for. Our room was “street facing”, quite cool which helped as the air-con isn’t on in the hotel yet. Huge bed, clean and functional room, but the sewage smell from the shower was overpowering, we had to keep the balcony doors open to allow for the smell to escape. The tea and coffee making facilities are laughable, no replenishment during the stay - glad we bought our own along. 2 bottles of still water each day. Okay for boiling but you don’t really want to drink it, must be treated and bottled on-site - has a real funny taste. We got by on bottles sparkling water. The gym is small and very warm, seems full if there is more than 4 people in there but we went most days and got to use what we wanted. The service at the swim up bar is probably the worst I have ever experienced, the staff simply do not care and would prefer to take 3 phone calls before finally serving you a different drink to what you have asked for (asked for 2 mojitos, got one sprite). The main drift bar in the main lobby is well stocked, presumably because the staff have no interest in serving anyone. You could be waiting about 45 minutes before being acknowledged… I did find it impressive that one of the staff members had managed to master the art of opening the door to the outside entertainment area just enough to slip through so he didn’t need to hold the door for anyone else (mothers with pushchairs included). The 2 main staff members at the mulberry tavern really made our holiday, Mouhalil (escuse the spelling) is the best! Helpful and happy all the time, other staff members should really take note. The main food hall (The Kitchen) is busy and what you would expect, but the food is good and plentiful, we had some lovely meals here and found the table service quite good - you do need to get in a little earlier for breakfast otherwise you’ll miss out. The beach is nice and sandy, plenty of beds and there is a towel exchange. There is a high security presence on the beach with allows sun worshipers to relax knowing they won’t be hassled for a horse back ride or to sit on a camel. The security presence throughout the hotel is noticeable, they really do a great job is ensuring the hotel and the grounds are safe which we felt was a really good thing. Evening entertainment is what you would expect, if it’s not your thing, I would suggest sitting in the mulberry tavern, although if the acrobatic show is o
