I will start my review with the fact that we are not fussy about a high class resort and love to stay at places in Mexico that have a mix of Mexican/Canadian and all tourists. This our 2nd time to the Palace resorts in Mazatlan and two years ago they got a 5 star review from both of us! However this year it has been a very different experience!! The staff are still amazing with Philipe still being here as the main bartender...he is awsome and knows our drinks and has them ready and on the table as we sit down. Our reservation states stay at one and play at all, however the first 6 days only 2 of the 4 resorts were open and we were not able to have breakfast or drinks at the Luna Palace this time, while we could in the past. On the 6th day they opened the Star Palace and now there are two al a carte options instead of 2 nights out of 6 the 1st week... On Fridays they offer a special al a carte at the Luna palace so we went early to enjoy the sunset with a drink...NO drinks until dinner starts! So much for stay and play at all of the resorts! Last time we booked at Star Palace, city view for 14 nights and got a nice upgrade to ocean front, this time we booked Oceano Palace city view for 14 nights and an awful room that didn't even have a window to open! I complained to the manager and they next day they moved us to a city view with a balcony and a fridge. It was a little better but to get ocean view we would have to pay an extra $450, which would equal the cost of going to the Riu like all the other Canadians on our flight did! Next time we will do the same!! I thought they would like to reward return visitors however it seems they do not want to welcome Canadians any longer! Shout out to the great staff- lobby bartenders: Philipe, Carlos, Louis, Diego The matre d at buffet Jesus Alfredo are all amazing and I am sure there are many others we have yet to meet. We still have a week left at the resort, so I will probably update later
