Agro-Hotel Rugama

Spent a week here with Naturetrek and found the hotel much better than some of the negative reviews suggested. Perhaps the only dissatisfactory point was the absence of any staff during much of the daytime. Apart from this everything was great. Breakfast and dinner were copious, with a wide variety of food each morning. The owner was charming, helpful and generous. Staff were friendly and efficient. My room was large, with some interesting old pieces of furniture, and in my bedroom the WiFi worked well. Water pressure was low but enough to shower in with patience. I slept very well here and enjoyed a pre breakfast stroll around the gardens.

Visited in late October for a family event and was so surprised by everything here. The hotel is super charming in a really pretty location, and the food and service was superb. A real hidden gem in the heart of Fuertaventura.

Rural Rugama is idyllic. From the verdant palm trees to the white stone walls of the building it is a beautiful hotel that could not be further away from the overcrowded, tourist traps on the coast. The complimentary breakfast they lay on is a feast of meats, bread, cakes, fruit and more. The bedrooms are beautifully rustic and cleaned spotlessly - the chairs outside our room were perfect to sit and read in early in the morning before heading off to explore the island. The bad reviews complaining about the lack of reception do not reflect the dedication the on-site staff had. In the morning there was always someone around to help with anything you needed and they were so friendly. We easily found our key waiting for us in a lock safe by the entrance of the hotel when we arrived in the evening - and check out was just as simple. The hotel is quiet and serene with beautiful views of the surrounding hills. We were an easy 10 minute bus from the capital (which had transport links to anywhere on the island) and a 5 minute walk into town for small shops and restaurants (we definitely recommend La Cantina!!!) I could not recommend this hotel enough for anyone looking to stay somewhere luxurious and beautiful whilst peaceful and gentle.

This hotel is basically a restaurant with rooms. There is no lounge or reception, the bar is in the restaurant. It is well away from the tourist areas and has large quiet gardens. It is clean and the staff are very helpful. The room with disabled facilities is small and furthest away from the restaurant and would be awkward for a wheelchair. I could not use the pool as there was only ladder type access. The food was very good. We were in a large party and all felt well rested after our stay.
