"My son and I had a gorgeous stay in one of their penthouses with a pool and private braai. The unit has two bathrooms and a well-equipped kitchen with a gas hob. Above this, it has DSTV and even YouTube. There is free Wi-Fi. The staff cleans the unit daily, washes dishes, and makes the beds. Ideal for two men! The unit is more 5-star than 4-star as classified. The right place to unwind and relax! Johan"

"We arrived late. It was dark and raining. the time was 7p.m. We asked if there was somewhere in the hotel where we could order a sandwich. We were told that the coffee shop was closed and if we wanted to get something the Spar was up the road. My husband kicked up a fuss and they reluctantly came forward with a menu from the local pizza place. Seeing the coffee shop was only supposed to close at 8 this was a poor show. Accommodation was satisfactory. Serviced only twice a week. Wonderful patio. Have to pay extra for aircon. This timeshare needs to be remember that one goes on holiday to relax. Not to wash dishes after e very meal. Unfortunately couldn't go down to the beach because the rains had washed the walkway away. We went to report this to the management who denied any knowledge of it.. Other than that a pleasant stay. Would we stay there again. No. Better accommodation elsewhere in Natal with service every day. Normal proximity to the beach at normal times is first class"

"The delicious breakfast with a sea view was fantastic. The beautifully maintained garden in front is also exceptional. Our room was spacious, clean, and superbly equipped. The very friendly host gave us lots of tips, whether for excursions, beaches, or restaurants."

"The place was very clean and tidy, the host was very friendly and helpful and made sure we were okay at all times, we also really enjoyed the breakfast, the place was very peaceful and nice views of the ocean. The only issue i have is that the bathroom should have a sliding door for privacy in the suite that i stayed in, i also saw this comment from previous reviews and hope this is done for future guests."

"Decent hotel, seems like it’s newly renovated so I’m guessing the bad reviews are from before the renovations. Glad I took the risk and booked it. Great location close restaurants the beach and a little shopping centre. Check out is a little too early though. Average good hotel would stay here again."

"The staff are amazing, we have used timeshare holidays since 1992 and this is the FIRST time we got a welcome call 2 days before we arrived . On arrival and during our 2 week stay from the gardener to management staff treated us as if we were in a 5 start hotel. Well done Club Hacienda"

"Margate sands resort is truly amazing. I booked 3 units, so a big family attended so I was a little stressed out, but at the end it was the best ever holiday with my family. And all thanks, due to Margate Sands staff accommodating my needs with no complaining. From the GM Leonard who exceeded my expectation and personal attention to detail is remarkable – Thank you Sir. All staff, to name a few that I remember (Was in high spirits), Charles, Silindile, Porters, Cleaners, Abigail (A true asset to Margate Sands- Know her for over ten years-awesome in entertaining), Monica, pool, and braai gents, ever so helpful. Continue with the Freddy dance, nice touch and the serving of Hot Drinks and Muffin at the pool area is very relaxing. The resort/outside is very clean and well maintained. My family also gave excellent feedback. Keep it up and I will continue comming."

"Costa Smeralda has always been a special place for my family, and myself. We’ve been visiting for many years. The resort is ideally situated, in the most perfect and calm area. The facilities at the resort are always on point for beachfront self-catering units. When you arrive at the resort and immediately park your car, you know that the holiday is going to begin. The resort gives the best holiday feeling over the rest. Staff are always friendly and helpful, especially Tracy, Alfred, and Gladness. Unfortunately Kathy is no linger at the resort and has retired. The units at Costa Smeralda have unfortunately deteriorated to the point where upgrades are urgently needed, especially in the kitchens and bathrooms. The units are always neat and clean, and we’ve never had any issues with cleanliness. The security gates at the sliding doors also need to be replaced, as well as some of the furnishings in the lounge. The overall units need a big make over and TLC. Also I know it was due to cost saving, but the dishwashers and washing machines used to make it “THE” self catering units. The views at Costa Smeralda are the some of the best, especially in Units 4,5,6 in the front block. Some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Bonus for me at Costa is the nice braai on the balcony- braai with a view. The walks on the promenade in-front of the resort are always great, walking along the seaside, and fishing pier all the way to the main beach and restaurants. Costa Smeralda will always remain a go to holiday destination for us, however I prefer having my holidays in some of the resorts that are a bit more upgraded. Costa you will always remain a GEM!"
