"There is zero refund if cancelled or modified within 14 days even if they re-sell your room. I became sick 10 days before my trip and my doctor advised me not to travel. They would not consider a refund, nor a credit for a future stay nor would they let me transfer it to someone else. The policy is extremely strict. It’s run by a property management company like an Airbnb so you can expect that level of service and communication (e.g. no cleaning, no one to be there if you need help). You’ll be told after booking the requirement to sign an waiver by a Short Term Management rental company and put down a damage deposit, which is all fine if you were expecting an Airbnb-like experience. I would not risk booking here when there are plenty of beautiful boutique design options in Marfa that offer better service and terms."

"The Lincoln Marfa Hotel has a warm and rustic style, and its location is excellent. Nearby, there are trendy boutiques, cozy coffee shops, as well as many galleries and art exhibitions. When we arrived at the hotel, the radio was already playing, which made us feel instantly comfortable and at home. Everything was simply wonderful."

"Cibolo Creek Ranch is neither a hotel nor a resort. This is a B&B where all the bad news is hidden until you arrive. We made reservations for one night – to check it out for a subsequent week stay with 4 adults. We went to Paws Up and Orvis Lodges in the past – thus our expectations. Cibolo send a text asking our arrival time – which was 5:30 to 6:30 as we were driving from Tucson. We called around 5 and said arrival would be around 7:00. The response was “OK then, we will cancel your dinner.” First hidden clue – no food after 6:30 PM. So – with NO DINNER, we stopped at the St. George in Marfa – and had a dinner and texted and said we would arrive around 9:00. The return text said the front desk closes at 6:00 PM. Second clue this is a B&B. When we arrived, finally, there are no lights anywhere. We could barely find the turn off – then up a dirt road for several miles in total blackness. Then the outline of a building – again no lights, not signage, nothing. We walked to what appeared to be a front door and found someone who said “welcome.” They took our luggage to our room. In the room, a notice that everything has a 15% service fee – just because. More hidden info. Third clue. In the morning, we skipped the shower and left as fast as we could. But the pain was not over. We had to lug our heavy wheeled bags through a long parking lot – gravel – like pulling your luggage on a beach. Nobody to help. As we were loading the car, an employee, in almost total darkness, drove past the rear of our car so fast she almost hit us. Fourth clue. This place is NOT a resort. It is NOT a hotel. This is a B&B and a crappy one at that. If you want resort outdoor experiences, check out Paws Up or Orvis Lodges in Montana. And they have no hidden messages. They are fabulous. If you want a Big Bend experience - go to the Gage Hotel, with real food, lights, people to help you and you can drive around Big Bend and see its wonders."
