"Fantastic location, room very clean and great floral decoration appealed to my partner. Parking was limited but worked out for me perfectly, only comment some people don’t park considerately, but understandable if not english drivers. Food is excellent, service is amazing, thank you for great stay!!"

"I am so glad that I booked this boutique b&b! I had an extremely comfortable stay; rooms are well appointed and everything has been finished to a very high standard. It is obviously lovingly maintained and everywhere is so fresh and clean. Breakfast was wonderful with a great choice of options. The location is perfect: close enough to town so as to be able to get anywhere easily, but quiet enough to be peaceful at night even with windows open. There isn't air conditioning in the rooms but fans were provided and coped admirably in the hot summer. There is a variety of room sizes and it's best to book directly from the most flexibility. Highfield justifies the 'boutique' label and is good value for everything it offers. Fraser and Maria are superb hosts and I truly hope to stay here again."

"I rarely write reviews, but our stay at Britannia B&B was so different I felt compelled to do so. The hotel website and pictures looked fantastic, so we had great expectations of a luxury B&B that provides great service that you would expect for the price. The host is such an eccentric character, and not sure which personality disorder he has, but the OCD is surely one of them. From the moment of booking we got bombarded with messages requesting the exact time of our arrival (difficult to be so precise when you travel a long way away), then waking up reminder, then breakfast time reminder etc. etc. We felt being controlled and ordered about – not very relaxing for a holiday break. As soon as we checked in, we were pressured to specify the exact time of our breakfast, which we needed to stick to every day, and in the same seating at the shared table. Tobias did not like to deviate from the usual breakfast menu either, and each morning you were served with the same food. Mind you, there was not much choice, and bacon and sausages were invariably burned, but we did not dare to complain. The host explained that he had to have his breakfast routine as he is a one-man business and it is a lot to cope with 4 couples??? We sincerely wish Tobias would express his obsession and professional pride at least in the quality of bedding, but the mattress was old and dipped whilst pillows were rock hard. We woke up aching every day – not something you would expect in a 4-star establishment. There were no toiletries provided either, and the furniture was not luxury but rather old and shabby. There were coffee sachets but no tea bags in the room. It is such a shame, because the town is gorgeous, the B&B location is great, and the hotel building has a lot of features and character. This could have been a wonderful stay if only the host was less rigid and controlling. We felt our holiday was tainted by this experience. We agree with all previous negative reviews, and it is so sad to see how the host justifies everything in his responses whilst deciding not to take comments on board. It would not surprise if he chooses to do it with this review too, but that would just confirm his attitude of his way or highway."
