Luz Bay Hotel

"I write this review as someone who has visited the Algarve, specifically Praia da Luz, at least once a year the past 20 years or so. The positives: the location, it has a pool. The negatives: it is not a 4 star hotel. I don't know where they get their ratings from but whoever rated it 4* should be suspended, sacked or shot. Preferably shot. My room developed a leak through a crack in the ceiling creating a large puddle at the end of my room. The solution I would have expected to such an issue would be to move me. Nope. The cleaner came in, mopped up both ceiling and floor only for it to return later in the day. You pay for wifi per device per day. Ridiculous from a 4 star hotel. Breakfast was edible. Just. Which is a crying shame as Portuguese food is out of this world when done properly. I couldn't close the windows in my bathroom. As such had creepy insects invade my room. I thoroughly recommend visiting Praia da Luz, great little place not far from Lagos with a cracking beach, just don't book here unless you expect nothing more than a truly basic hotel with a medium sized pool. Like I say, good location but that's about it. Needs some investment and lessons in customer service. Has potential, but falls drastically short."

The staff are exceptionally friendly, attentive, and always willing to help — they really make you feel welcome from the first moment. Breakfast, served at the table, was delicious and added to the relaxing atmosphere of the hotel. It’s the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a few stress-free days in a beautiful setting.
