"This was my first time staying at the Magnolia Hotel. Ctrip lists it as a mid-range chain hotel, but its amenities are more like a budget chain. Dust clung to many inconspicuous corners of the room, such as doorknobs and electrical outlets. The hotel, likely a remodel of an older establishment, had a rather dark, airy feel. The rooms were cold and unbearably hot without air conditioning, yet there was also the pungent odor of cigarettes from other rooms. The front desk lady was very friendly and provided complimentary breakfast, but aside from the eggs and freshly cooked noodles, everything else was simply inedible. A customer questioned the breakfast's taste, but the waiter retorted that it was free. What else could they say? They practically treated the customer like a beggar, a typical old-fashioned state-owned enterprise style."

"Weird stay. They upgraded us to the best room on the top floor. Superb views. Then they told us the wrong time for the indoor pool closing. Leaflet said 9pm, they confirmed, then it closed at 5pm. After assertively reminding them what they had told us, they allowed us to swim. Their outdoor pool was closed for repairs, which had been a reason for staying. Later that night, two dudes were smoking outside our room - not good with a pregnant wife - so they moved us to the floor below to another room. Excellent value for money in terms of what's included but some parts of the jigsaw weren't in place."

"The lake view from the room is great, and while the facilities are a bit old, they are very clean. There are plenty of activities for all ages and seasons, making a three-day, two-night stay perfect. The hotel staff are all warm and polite and interact well with children. The hot springs are a highlight, with over thirty open, so it never feels crowded, and there are many staff members attending to them. However, the Fisherman's Wharf restaurant was a huge disappointment. A la carte options are expensive, and the set menus are limited, too salty, and the bamboo shoots were tough and unappetizing. It's definitely not suitable for two adults and one child; the only decent thing on the set menu was a fried fish roll. Furthermore, the service was abysmal. No one greeted us upon entering, and after our meal, no one asked for feedback, offered a small snack, or called a shuttle. There was absolutely no service to speak of, a stark contrast to the Hong Kong-style restaurants we've experienced. My rating is for the hotel; if it were just for Fisherman's Wharf, I'd give it only one star for the ambiance."

The hot springs were large with many different pools, and it wasn't too crowded. There were dry towels and hot drinks available everywhere. The only downside was the weather, so I'll definitely go back on a nicer day next time. The breakfast buffet was a bit busy, and it felt like the restaurant wasn't quite big enough. They might consider opening an additional dining area for breakfast during holidays."

The breakfast selection was abundant. My only minor issue is that, despite it being almost June, the room's air conditioning wasn't adjustable, staying consistently at 24-25 degrees Celsius. For someone who gets hot easily, this made it difficult to sleep; I went to bed late and woke up before 5 AM due to the heat. "I didn't live in the hotel, the front desk was in another building, and I had to swipe my card to go up the elevator. Either my family had to be picked up when they went downstairs, or someone was left in the room and there was no electricity. These are not a big deal and can be understood. However, it was clearly written in the laundry room that they could dry the clothes and send them to the room, but the front desk kept making excuses, saying that they only provided laundry, as shown in the picture below, which is false advertising. Also, there was a very strong odor as soon as I entered the door of the building I lived in, like the smell of dead rats. When I checked in, they boasted that there were many breakfast varieties, but in fact there were very few, because the bag for carrying things was broken. When I checked out in the morning, the front desk might not have woken up, and I couldn't get a plastic bag even if I asked for it. The service quality really needs to be improved."
