It is always a wonderful experience visiting The Arundell Arms in Lifton. All of the team are incredibly welcoming, friendly & helpful. The rooms are incredibly comfortable and well sized, with a coffee maker & tea making facilities. You can eat for dinner in either the bar area or restaurant, I have always found the food to be of a high standard, both dinner & breakfast. The garden to the rear in the summer is lovely for terrace drinks, in the winter there is a very comfortable lounge area. I do not fly fish, but if I did, & plan to at some point as it's on my bucket list, I would come here as I know they have both private fishing areas and also run courses. There is ample parking & not that I do, but if you have an electric vehicle, there are multiple Tesla chargers. Whilst when on business I do not pay for my rooms, I think the circa £150 per night is competitive given the high standards.

Another exemplary meal at The Arundell. Set New Year’s Eve menu, scollops and T-bone steak cooked to perfection! Compliments to the chef!!! This restaurant never fails to produce the best evening of food and drinks. Staff very helpful and attentive. Thank you 😋

Another flying visit to the haven that is The Arundell. The bed was really comfortable, bar and food sumptuous. My brother and I had the oysters for starters on both nights and they were delicious. Luke recommended 2 or maybe it was 3 bottles of fabulous wine; they will cork a bottle and care for any left over each evening. Breakfast is lovely; I adore the smoked haddock and the full English. David and David sold us excellent things (we all need more fishing things) from the well stocked Orvis centric tackle shop and waved us off to chase the trout and peal. Jess sorted everything on arrival then Tracy did the same with our departure. Super to see Amy, the whole team were as wonderful as always. Thank you as always and look forward to returning soon.

We had a lovely meal here, plenty of choice and served beautifully. The crispy duck salad was delicious, would definitely recommend this restaurant. Nice staff and a great area to sit with a log fire 🔥 chips were also very good. There is a big car park and lots to see.

Unexpectedly we had to look for a bed for the night and were very pleased we had to as we ended up staying at the Arundle. Everyone was charming and helpful. We had a great impromptu stay, a very comfortable room, even the dog was royally looked after. Great food and wine. Five stars all around.

We just called in for lunch. Sadly, there was only a Lite Bites menu as the off-season midweek menu which was a bit disappointing. I can't remember what we chose but it was fine. As before, the staff at The Arundell are just lovely and when we asked to see the historic cockpit (now a room for special events) we were shown around this historic survivor, as well as the lovely dining room. We hope to return and hope that perhaps the mid-week menu can be made a little more substantial. It would be busier as a result, I'm sure. Of course, the management has their reasons. Anyway, we will be back. It's a very nice country hotel and I would gladly stay there in the future.

We are local so been in the Arundell many times over the years. But never for afternoon tea. The reviews are good. So we decided to have a treat. Yet we were not impressed. Compared to lunch or dinner in the hotel it seemed poor. The jam was superb,the little pudding gorgeous. The sandwiches were not great,nothing like as good as the ones we've had at lunch or indeed in the deli. In fact we wished we had just gone in the deli. Afternoon tea should be a special treat, it wasnt.

Really disappointing food and poor staff . Feel it would have been better if the owners were present to deal with obvious kitchen problems . Taken as a special treat by family . Ordered a cod , bean, chorizo dish , the waiter came back out to say they had no chorizo or beans , so what would we like to do . Said we would still have it and leave it to the chef to be inventive . A piece of white cod and some chips arrived ! Asked if we could have the sauce vierge offered with another dish just to improve it . Waiter arrived back with a pot of boiling oil with some bits of chilli floating in it . Not sure if the waiter had cooked this meal but surely can't have been the usual chef . Felt very sorry for our hosts .
