Hostal Spa Empuries

One of the best places on earth to have a quiet luxurious romantic weekend. We went on the month of February, and during winter this place becomes a very peaceful paradise. The hotel would also have special low season prices both for the rooms and for the spa treatments, witch we totally took advantage of. The room already came with a complementary free hour at their beautiful spa, but I also had a massage there. My only complain would be for the person who gave me the massage, he wasn't very welcoming and wasn't projecting that relaxing vibe you would expect at a place like that and I didn't enjoy it at all. Breakfast was included and was one of the best Breakfast I ever had in a hotel, and the view was unreal. Dinner wasn't included (as natural) and it was quite expensive but totally worth it. They had no problem with us bringing our own cake ( since we where celebrating a birthday) and the service was excellent!

Positives: great location on seafront Negatives: very small rooms , poorly soundproofed, ask for a room on top floor. Very popular with dog owners, dogs in the restaurant, dogs in the bar , dogs in reception. Air con not working, unresponsive staff.

I went to dinner with family and friends,very disappointed with the bland,unseasoned food and poor presentation. The crevette croquettes were just put in a small bowl with no accompaniment,the lime mayonnaise with the onion flower had no taste. The monkfish was over cooked and the centre was unedible. The duck came only with chutney and no accompanying vegetables. The best part was the desserts, The waitress thought she was above everybody Very disappointed

Amasing place - nice rooms, brilliant views, exciting food, thrilling drinks. And don’t forget the direct beach access. Staff very friendly and helpful. Its easy access from girona or barca airport and much to do and see in the neighborhood

We loved this hotel. The setting is beautiful and it is steps from the waterfront. The rooms are very large and comfortable and all of the amenities that you need are there. The food at the restaurant, for both dinner and breakfast are outstanding. We have stayed in four places during our trip so far and this is by far my favourite. Note that it is not right in the centre of L’Escala. It is approximately 20-25 minutes walk along a lovely path. I understand that they also have bikes available, so this would make a quick trip to L’escala even quicker. I highly recommend this hotel! If you are a cyclist, there is secure bike storage.

We enjoyed our stay here but it's one of those 'they should get a few more things right' before it's full marks. It's in a great location, has a nice vibe and the staff are all great from the barman to the staff at breakfast - which was varied and plentiful (although aimed mainly at the French market rather than, say, the British who like their sausages and mushrooms etc!) Comfortable beds and good linen. The spa was good too. A few things to point out: the bath had black 'mould' marks all around the seal - surely something that's easy to fix? More importantly the wifi was awful. We asked one of the managers who gave an alternative login but this didn't work. Could be an important issue for some. All in all an enjoyable stay and the local walks - for example the ruins and on to the nearby restaurants - are lovely.

Beautiful location overlook the sea, close to Greco-Roman ruins. Lovely breakfast buffets. Modern and well appointed though we were surprised by the enforced absence of air conditioning as this was still “winter”. Keeping the balcony doors open at night or an electric fan didn’t quite do it for us. And, while you might want to burnish your environmental credentials, the brown recycled toilet paper wasn’t what we’d like expect from a fine hotel.

Romantic hotel, beautifully located at the beach and surrounded by pine trees. The restaurant is quite good, they offer several veggie options as well. In walking distance of l'Escala town. Great bed! Last but not least, I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Also the gluten free bread was good. My only feedback to improve on: please offer filtered water instead of bottled mineral water. Especially as this is a eco-friendly place.

This hotel is a great choice for the person looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation without tons of tourists and hustle and bustle. Right on the Mediterranean. The hotel is 4 star. Rooms are clean and not ostentatious. Staff is very friendly and genuinely helpful. Empurion, a small Roman city, abuts the property. St Martin, a tiny village with three great restaurants is about a 1/3rd mile walk in one direction and LaScala, nice town of 5,000 about 3/4 mile in the other. Getting here is a challenge. Need to rent a car or take a train from Barcelona to Girona ($30) and then a taxi from Girona ($60-70). I would definitely like to return here
