I was a little nervous when I heard we would be staying in someone’s home while visiting Kathmandu but I was happily surprised with how comfortable and pleasant it was. Babu and Bella are as warm and welcoming as can be. Their house is large and the beds were comfortable. It was fun to be just outside the city limits of Kathmandu because we could see how regular Nepalese people live. Babu took us on a walk through his village and we also spent a couple days seeing the sights in and around Khatmandu - all fascinating! Bella cooked our breakfast and dinner each day and it was all delicious. She is an absolute gem💕 After three days in their village, we flew to Pokhara. We spent a nice day there enjoying the beautiful lake and made last minute purchases for our trek. We were fortunate to have Babu and four wonderful porters to help us on our five day trek to Poon Hill. It was beautiful, fascinating and hard. Lots of tall stone steps up and down. I thought I was in decent shape until the second half of day two! Granted, I am 57 and a recent cancer survivor as well as a newly christened asthma sufferer so if I can do it, so can you! Everyone we met was so kind and helpful. We got a little tired of the food (limited choices) but no one got sick and we all managed just fine. Anyone considering this trip should know that it is adventure travel- not vacation! We knew that going in, so we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our group consisted of four of my siblings, spouses, friends and a niece. I will always cherish the memories we made together with Babu, Bella and the lovely people of Nepal.
