Stopped off for a bite to eat one lunchtime and decided to go with the soup as its one of my fav lunchtime foods especially if it's homemade. I was so looking forward to a bowl of it but instead I received it in a small coffee cup which sadly wasn't even full. Although the soup did come under light bites I was so disappointed as to how small the portion was at a cost of £6.50. On a positive note, the leek & potato soup and roll was absolutely delicious, so tasty. I just wanted more.

Rooms 303-309 which amounts to at least 21 occupants are serviced by just 1 shower and 1 toilet. My room 305 has 4 beds in it with 1 hanger on 1 rail and 1 cupboard. This is pathetic and smacks of packing the rooms with beds for profit, without consideration for where one can organise your posessions. Not to mention being woken up by resudent pigeons at 0530 hrs, clearly not the finest preparation for a long days hiking up the fells. The ambience of the dining area is more like a city pub than a place to chill and is not welcoming at all for families with children. Staff are not on the premises at night, providing a remote telephone help line. I came here direct from Borrowdale YHA a proper traditional YHA. Will not be staying here again.

I came down from the Fells and thought as a member (YHA), I’ll go for a pint at the YHA. I ordered a German beer, because although I am an Englishman, I have spent years living in Germany and know that nothing beats German quality control. As I sat down to enjoy the beer I noticed The I’ll-quality of the furniture! See images. I have lived in two continents (Europe and Australasia), and three countries: England, Germany and Australia. My empirical findings deduces the fact that it is only the Indigenous English native English speaking folk (Caucasian) that seem to accept such sub-standard ambience (furnishings), and expect other’s to tolerate such unacceptable standards.

Stayed before, brilliant staff and location. I'd have given it five stars overall if the matress had been nicer (like a gym mat) and the cheap metal bed creaked badly.

Excellent location, close to the centre of Keswick. Lovely park to walk around literally over the river 100 yds away Staff were great on arrival, explaining everything. There had been an issue with the room we booked, however, the room we were over into was very good - especially for the price paid We got breakfast on the Monday morning and it was very good. We got to choose exactly what we wanted as opposed to buffet style, which occurs when busier. Staff again were great Thoroughly recommend this for a couple of nights in a lovely town

Beautiful location with stunning views from my balcony room. En-suite room was very clean and tidy, had all the amenities required for my getaway. Loved having use of the shared kitchen/ common room area which was perfect for facilitating my dietary / medical requirements. All the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Front of house on my arrival were exceptional, explained everything i needed to know and check in went smoothly. Helping to carry bags up and down the stairs was highly appreciated. Having luggage storage on site was really useful for my final day so i did not need to carry it about until my departure time. The staff were extremely accommodating to my dietary requirements when i decided to have an evening meal in the hostel. My server gets 10/10 for getting the order correct (as it was awkward!) and 10/10 for entertainment/ friendliness. The whole vibe of the hostel was fantastic and relaxing which is just what i was looking for from this visit and stay. Highly recommended!

Would definitely recommend! Good size rooms, showers, cafe, dry room and very friendly staff. For the low price the location is brilliant in the centre of Keswick but just far enough so that it wasn’t too busy. Had a lovely weekend away and got exactly what we needed from YHA. Next time in Keswick will definitely look to stay here again.

Stayed for two nights in this lovely hostel family of four. Friendly hard working staff. Great facilities in the kitchen and was well maintained. Ideal location within walking distance into keswick high street. Overnight parking on nearby road is fine but restricted to two hours during the day.

This was a delightful overnight stay. The manager and his team were friendly, welcoming, cheerful and very helpful. Breakfast was a freshly-made buffet and filling. The hostel looked smart and was in very good condition considering the number of guests that stay overnight throughout the year. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the river - a nice addition to the hostel. Well done YHA.

We were not aware of the limited road parking and that access is on a walkway about 150 meters. Our fault. So parking with a canoe on top of my van gave me cause for concern especially with the Police warning about thefts from vehicles. So we had to bring in most kit which was a pain. Fabulous staff, good kitchen facilities, we had river views. Everywhere close to hand. Furniture needs replacing lots of tears and stuffing visable. Drying room was hot and the rooms were clean. Photo ID required on booking in which is clearly shown when you book on line. The access to parking will unfortunately deter me to revisit but that's unavoidable, when built many many years ago it wasn't a consideration. Thanks to all the incredibly friendly and courteous staff.
