I initially booked through a reputable booking site but decided to book direct to save the establishment on commission and paid the deposit. Bad mistake. I was supposed to stay at the place for a weekend but cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. A cancellation policy was never communicated and I was told that a refund would be done. After following up several times via email, I eventually gave them a call. I was told that the refund would take 3 months which I argued about, being in the hospitality industry myself. The guy I spoke with (I think it's owner) hung up on me. Needless to say, it's been 4 months now and still now refund. Unfortunately, it is establishments like these that necessitate the use of booking sites. I would recommend that you make use of a booking site when booking to avoid losing out.
