Although a bit "vintage," it's well-maintained and clean, and the breakfast is excellent, plentiful, and varied. The reception staff is truly impeccable: welcoming, helpful, kind, and even friendly. The breakfast room staff are very attentive and friendly...almost all of them. Good value for money. A refrigerator in the room and a better hairdryer would be helpful."

"Hotel Solemar is situated along the chain of family beach clubs of Ischia Porto's waterside, in a relatively quiet neighborhood 3-5 minutes walk from the promenade of shops and restaurants that thrive every summer evening. We had a single room facing a tranquil garden lane, and a double room with a large balcony overlooking the beach. Both rooms were spacious enough to accomodate luggage. Wifi in the single was slow, but the oceanview double had flawless wifi; both rooms had excellent cable with many channels, mostly in Italian, of course. The breakfast was better than most hotels, and the daytime front desk staff and housekeeping ladies exerted themselves to be helpful. PROS: -Location! 10 minute walk to ferry/boat docks, 20 minute walk to Castel Aragonese -Pool, beach clubs ($), big seaside balconies available ($) -Breakfast buffet; lobby bar; friendly, helpful staff -Excellent individual air conditioners CONS: -Smaller size showers in some rooms (e.g., tight fits for "super-sized" North Americas) -Rust and wear-and-tear appropriate to a moderate priced, beachfront family hotel"

"The hotel is located 10/15 minutes walk from Ischia Porto and Ischia Ponte. It's a nice walk down but uphill on way back. A shuttle bus is available on certain days and times. The hotel is very clean and well kept and the rooms are sufficient and have air conditioning. We also had a balcony which was a lovely addition. The breakfast is good with a good variety. The hotel was very quiet and the guests were mainly in the elderly age group. There are spa facilities available and a large swimming pool. The reception and bar staff were very friendly and helpful. Cons No iron and ironing board available - you can get your clothes ironed for you at a cost Also charge for towels and robes for spa/swimming pool Unhelpful staff in the restaurant for breakfast ( except for one lovely blond lady). Tables are set up for evening dining so hard to know where to sit and no one willing to help."

"Overall, we had a good time. There were three of us and we stayed for two nights. The room was reasonably well-maintained and very welcoming, decorated in shades of white and blue that made it pleasant. The only thing that could be improved was the air conditioning: it's not particularly powerful and only works with the windows completely closed. The cleanliness was excellent, and the staff was always very kind, helpful, and ready to accommodate any request. Breakfast was simple but well-stocked: fruit juice, milk, and water were available, while cappuccino or coffee was prepared upon request. Croissants were served based on the number of guests. There were also yogurt, two types of cereal, a ring cake, a tart, bread for toast, honey, hazelnut spread, butter, and jam. We can't comment on lunch because we never ate it. Dinner, however, was quite good, although the portions could have been a bit larger. The only real downside is the location: the hotel is about five minutes from the port, making it quite noisy. The property also has a small but pleasant pool. Overall, for the few days we spent there, the experience was positive and we had a good time."

"Hotel is in a great location, the pool area is lovely and the staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is quite dated, if you look too closely you will see it needs work doing to it. The rooms are clean but basic, one side of the bed had a lamp the other didn’t. We requested a lamp but it never came. Products in the bathroom are poor, take your own! Some of the plug sockets didn’t work. But we weren’t in the room much only for sleeping and getting changed so the location made up for the rest of it."

It is a 15 minute walk from the castle and the lovely ponte neighbourhood, where we ate dinner. The views from the hotel are sublime... overlooking the castle and sea. The rooms are lovely and very clean, but the internet and wifi on the island are unstable. This of course is beyond the control of the hotel. The breakfast could have been richer but for two nights, it was OK. The staff were so helpful and so friendly.... Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel."

"Dated but clean rooms, shower and bathroom a bit small. Eating and drinking: At 9:30 a.m., the breakfast buffet is truly disheartening. I was doing physical therapy and finished at 9:30. There were no rolls, the croissants looked like they were saying "please eat me!" or they'll still be here on the tray tomorrow. Lunch: no vegetable buffet, they bring you a small plate of dressed salad, complete sadness. Edible dishes. Dinner, last evening, at 8:03 p.m., tray with fried flowers empty, chef and waiters nearby indifferent. I asked if it was possible that there were no more fried flowers, and the resentful maître d' told me he'd ask the chef if it's possible to remake them. However, except for this evening, which was 8:03 p.m., every evening by 8:10 p.m. at the latest, the tasty portion and buffet were finished. Edible dishes. Truly disgraceful gala evenings. Important details: Good thermal and spa department, with top-notch staff."

It is a very short bus or taxi from Naples ferry or walk as we did. Great location for the castle and ferry as well as restaurants and supermarket. Can’t say enough how much we enjoyed it."

"Nothing to say about the reception staff who, with professionalism and kindness, tried to make the disastrous holiday in this disastrous structure "pleasant". Disastrous due to the lack of air conditioning both in the common areas and in the room assigned to us. We asked several times if it was possible to "turn on the system in the room, but the answer was to change rooms - a room in which obviously the air conditioning did not work, and so we remained in the one we already occupied. Another answer was that due to a mayoral ordinance it was not possible to turn on the air conditioning (phantom ordinance). We still requested an intervention, and the maintenance man reported to the reception that nothing could be done. At this point we decided to shorten our stay and leave a day early, losing money and part of the holiday. But the worst joke, that with the suitcases packed, in response to a further request, the maintenance man came to the room, dismantled the filters and the air conditioning started! In short, a ruined holiday. By the way, a 4 star hotel, with a poor breakfast buffet and machines for coffee and drinks is just unthinkable. Even having paid for half board compared to the menus presented in the morning, where frozen fish was the only thing Owner, we preferred to eat outside. I'll stop here, there would be more to say. I strongly advise against this establishment."

"We stayed a week in June this year after the experience in July 2020. We were also satisfied with the change of management. Welcoming staff available for any request. Very good breakfast with sweet and savory foods. The rooms are spartan but with everything you need, comfortable mattresses and beds. A negative note is the shower a little small and the annoying mosquitoes. In addition, since our room was on the street side, we could sometimes hear the people below us, in the garden, even late at night (between one and two). We could still go back"

"Top location, less than 100m on the beach via shortcut from the hotel. Although the hotel needs some renovations. The bathroom is outdated and has some damp spots, the shower head could not be hung up. No air conditioning available (which we knew) but the fan only works when the light is on, which is not an option at night. No mosquito window which means that you were woken up by mosquitoes at night and woke up with a lot of bites. The staff is friendly and ready to help you with questions and needs."
