Hotel Burghof is fabulous. It is like a B and B yet has the amenities of a hotel. A 3 minute walk from the train station and bus stop. Amazing cleanliness. Lovely Breakfast. We purchased a daily bus pass for 2 for 7 euros and saw all of Hof. Most buses meet at Sonnenplatz city center for transfers.

Zimmer 306. Das Zimmer hat einen schönen Ausblick über den Osten der Stadt. Die Einrichtung ist nostalgisch geschmackvoll. Zimmer und Bad sind weder besonders groß noch besonders klein. Es gibt einen kleinen Kühlschrank und einen Tischventilator: an heißen Sommertagen unverzichtbar, da es dann im Zimmer recht schwül ist. Was der Zimmerservice, außer täglich den Mülleimer zu leeren, tut, war für mich nicht erkennbar. Bettzeug und Handtücher haben durchweg Flecken oder Löcher. Es wird ein Tütchen Badesalz gereicht, ein Bad kann man freilich nicht nehmen, da man den Abfluss nicht verschließen kann. Vielleicht ist das Bad aber auch gerade in der Renovierungsphase, da an der Decke nur eine nackte Glühlampe hängt und der Badlüfter grausame und langanhaltende Geräusche macht. Das Frühstück wird mit fünf Euro berechnet, entsprechend sollte man niedrige Ansprüche haben, es deckt die allernötigsten Bedürfnisse ab. Die Hotelleiterin ist bemüht, freilich mit leichtem Hang zum Chaos: So kam sie an einem Morgen, an dem ich einen Zug bekommen musste, statt um 6.30 Uhr erst um 6.45 Uhr, um den Frühstückssaal zu öffnen, und alles, was Sie zu mir sagte, war: "Sie warten wohl schon seit halb sieben." In solchen Situationen sind starke Nerven gefragt! An den Folgetagen war sie dann freilich immer pünktlich. Werktags gibt es nachmittags im Frühstückssaal einen Café-Betrieb mit hervorragendem Kuchen und einer sehr freundlichen und professionellen Mitarbeiterin.

Freundliches ruhiges Hotel fast in der Stadtmitte (Bahnhof). Leider wie fast alle Hotels in Hof etwas in die Jahre gekommen. IN den 90er war es wohl sehr chic, aber inzwischen leider nur noch von außen. Betten sind einigermaßen bequem, Bad ist sogar mit Wanne (wo bekommt man das noch?), Frühstück ist umfangreich und man kann die Wünsche bei der Bedienung abgeben, die einem dann alles an den Platz bringt. Arbeiten kann man auch sehr ruhig tagsüber im Frühstückszimmer.
