"Spent two nights in this very well appointed Herdwick wagon , only wish it had been longer . The three wagons are set back from the rear car park and elevated so some feeling of privacy and seclusion. Our wagon was very clean and surprisingly spacious with a fully functional shower room/toilet with heated floor , what a treat. The wagon also had a lovely little pot bellied stove which on colder days would have made it very cozy , unfortunately for us the weather was superb in the high 20’s . The bed was particularly comfortable and large and after a days hike , a lovely meal and pint in the pub was the perfect end to the day . So often the first night in a new bed in unfamiliar surroundings can be uneasy ….. no such issue here in this tranquil setting with only the distant sound of sheep . Highly recommend , if we ever return to Yorkshire we will for sure wish to stay here but for longer . I should also say everyone we met employed at pub/restaurant were extremely friendly and helpful."

"Second time visitors to The George Carvery and once again the place has exceeded our expectations. We were visiting the North of England woodworking show at the famous Harrogate Showground, this time we encouraged some friends of ours to travel the short distance and try here after a number of disappointing stays at the premier inn. As always the staff are friendly and attentive, the food was of a very good standard and the feedback I received from my friends was all just as positive! And all this for a fraction of the cost of their previous choice! Room was comfortable and clean with a nice ambiance, my wife especially likes the decor and the natural light from the large window. The George does not do a breakfast BUT they did point us in the direction of a very nearby breakfast option so no negatives from us for that at all. The whole place is clean, friendly and welcoming, what’s not to love?! 5 stars from us, we will be back again next time!"

"Well, 3.5 stars. There is no doubt that Dan is a welcoming and informative host. He cooks a good breakfast too. The hotel is close to and convenient to the town centre, which is good - though I can’t agree with other reviews saying the street is quiet: it wasn’t when I was there thanks to building work and very early morning refuse collection but perhaps on other days it is fine. Noise disturbance from the adjoining property was more of an issue, walls are thin. For me, though, the Franklin has some other downsides. I stayed in the ‘deluxe’ room and wouldn’t again. For sure, the room is quite large and faces the street. But perhaps this is why the room was so very cold; the radiator wasn’t up to the job. A hot water bottle is available, but I don’t want to be relying on that to be warm. There is a seating area promoted on the room description but the seats are two hard and really uncomfortable dining chairs. Ten minutes on one of them was more than enough. Room furnishing is an eclectic mix, including a massive oriental decorative fan and a massive wardrobe adorned with plastic shrubbery which all seemed a bit odd. What really drags down my opinion was the shower: it drains very, very slowly which is fine if only for the fact that the water is such a woeful dribble from the shower head the drain can just about cope. Stay here by all means but I would opt for one of the side rooms, which at least have an armchair and maybe better water pressure."

"My friend was staying here and both the owners were absolutely lovely and accommodative. They very kindly let me use the hotel's facilities before I made the long drive back home to London. Really genuine people who deserve nothing but the best! Will definitely consider staying here at my next trip to Harrogate. Thank you!"
