"We had a lovely stay in Casa Roland Golfto. It was central for us to visit local national parks. The pools are great and you can look out and watch the scarlet macaws, toucans and other wildlife. The staff were very good apart from a mix up with a food order then the kitchen and bar staff went cold on us for the duration of our stay. ( even though we paid the total bill ) Rooms clean, good car park area. Breakfast was very local and not really to our taste."

"Amara Ocean Living was an absolute stunning and beautiful experience. The team there ensures you are comfortable and that you have everything you need for your stay. Everyone on property always asks how you're doing and if you need anything. They are so attentive, that by the end of my second day, they knew I enjoy green tea with a slice of ginger and honey on the side and when I would come down for breakfast, it was brought to me as I sat down. There are many available tours. If youre only there for a short time I recommend the boat tour and land tours where you can see dolphins, crocodiles, sea turtles, and go snorkeling in one of the most beautiful areas! The land tours, you can see the beauty of the rainforest and catch glimpses of its inhabitants! I was told while on a tour of the United Fruit Company, that a resident Puma will stroll past from time to time! I was looking for it the whole time! If you're a surfer, they have one of the longest ride waves in the world and it's just a short ride to that beach. The Amaka Ocean Living Resort absolutely deserves a Forbes Travel rating of 5 diamonds and I highly recommend to anyone going to Costa Rica."

"Keith and Nicole, the owners of Cielo Lodge have created an idyllic experience with an incredible view of Golfito Bay. The team led by Delia, an exceptional manager, ensured that all our needs were met, and the kindness and warmth of the staff created a friendly and casual environment. Any concerns or questions we had were dealt with quickly and professionally. We enjoyed all of the included activities led by a naturalist guide Michael, who was incredibly knowledgeable and able to spot so much wildlife that we would have missed if we had been on our own. The food is excellent and they worked hard to accommodate our dietary needs. We had been concerned about no AC which proved not to be a problem and some nights we actually needed an extra blanket to sleep. The rooms are well designed to keep you cool and comfortable. The design of the rooms and central dining room/bar and pool area are magnificent and encouraged connection with nature. We enjoyed swimming lengths and the view from the infinity pool. Some small touches that we particularly appreciated included, fresh cold juice on return from every activity (including for the guide and driver); free laundry; cleaning our muddy shoes after a hike to the waterfall (they looked like new); the outdoor shower in our room and 2 pairs of binoculars for use during our stay. The small size of the lodge facilitated getting to know the other guests, kept the tours intimate and we still could enjoy time as a couple. Overall we had a wonderful, memorable 5 day vacation in a beautiful and not yet overly developed area of Costa Rica."

"Stayed here for two nights as part of our Exodus Discover Costa Rica tour. Excellent location. No glass in the windows, only mesh so you could hear the wildlife all night, which was brilliant (luckily none came into the room!) Safe provided. Also ceiling fan. Basic clean and comfortable accommodation. All meals were provided, but we found portion sizes small. They pride themselves on no waste! Lovely swimming pool. Night time walks are offered with the use of wellies provided by the hotel. A stunning isolated location in the rain forest."
