After nearly 3 years and decided to stay at Highlands Hotel since there was discounted price for RWS member. But, what it got me really is disappointing. Maybe that’s the biases side as discounted price was for deluxe & premier room and hence no effort is done to maintain the room at all. Super run down and no hygiene in place at all. These are what I found though out my stay there. 1. Check in through self-help kiosk. First of a kind given it’s a 5 star hotel. Unsure why they do not want to provide front desk services. Maybe it was due to the fact that those under deluxe and premier rooms are allocated for RWS members who can redeem the room through the RWS point system or paid at a discounted price. Hence, it’s call what you pay for is what you get. No dedicated service is required except when you want to make changes to the room beds (e.g. from king to single bed and vice versa). However, if you have booked a suite room, you do have a dedicated counter for you to use and be checked in by the hotel staffs themselves personally. 2. Dirty bathroom. I had first checked in and was given a room with dirty bathtub and shower area. The capsules of facial foam was left behind by the previous guest or maybe before that in the shower area. No effort in clearing it or thoroughly cleaning them up. The bathtub, it’s by far the dirtiest that I have ever seen. Marks of dirty stains are left in the bathtub. I had to perform housekeeping by myself to remove whatever is in the toilet and did a round of cleaning up for the shower area, bathtub and toilet bowl at the end. Really disgusting to the max. and given the condition of the covid virus existence, no extra effort was given to make sure the hygiene standard is there. 3. Usage of the shampoo, shower and hand wash really was a painful experience. I wondered whether did the bathroom facility team in charge ever personally used the bottles. One person has to use up all the strength to squeeze out minimal portion of the liquid. My hand hurts as I’m typing this review out right now. I really don’t understand where is the logic in using those kind of bottles at all. 4. Room floor was not vacuumed and cleaned at all. Strands of hair can be seen on the floor and when I stepped on the non-carpenter floor, it’s as if my shoes are stuck to the floor. Yes, it’s that sticky. Horrendous!! I did saw the cleaning staffs pulling the vacuum along but was it even being used? 5. For the beds, they seems fine since I just keep an eye close as the rooms were fully booked and no chance in having the room changed for the night. Overall experience, horrendous and super nasty experience. Would I recommend or consider staying in this hotel again? NO! Not a chance! To be honest, this hotel should not even be qualified for a 5 star rating. It’s deceiving the hotel stayer. This hotel really requires a full overhaul of the hotel rooms with renovation.
