"Incredibly, I don't have a single complaint to point out. Anyone reading the reviews before coming here would be hesitant, just like me. However, I'm glad I always like to see for myself. The location couldn't be better, considering we're close by, but at the same time on a quieter side street, which means there's no disturbance at night. It's true that some rooms are better than others; mine even had a bathtub, a terrace, and an extra meter of space. But I was also lucky enough to get along with someone who stayed in a bathroom with a shower, which is nothing like the photos... Don't be fooled, there are many people, a lot of competition, and I believe that's why there are more negative reviews... Reception almost 24 hours. Use of the refrigerator, possibility of renting a safe, etc."

"Based on the price point this is a lovely property, rooms are tight but excellent value, and the aircon was a big perk for my husband. The gentleman who checked us in was incredible helpful, and even had a to go breakfast ready for us, and arranged us a cab since we had a very early flight out!"

"This was our 6th time here at the Royal Savoy and we love it. From the moment we arrive we always have an amazing experience. We have become close with quite a few members of staff and look forward to seeing them each time. The catering staff really make it for us, especially Pedro, Miguel and Joao. Food is delicious and always presented beautifully. Breakfast is well stocked. The pool area is amazing. I love how each seating area is quite private and offers a different view. Always plenty of places to sit. Inside pool is also really nice but I have to say that this time it was overrun with kids. Sometimes they were even in there unattended which doesn't seem safe. With the kids dive bombing into the pool and splashing/screaming it means that no one else is able to use it. Rooms are always clean and comfortable and house keeping do a great job. The rooms are outdated but I understand if the hotel is closing in a few years then there's no point in renovating. Great time as always and can't wait to be back!"

"My stay at this hotel was truly exceptional. The lady at reception was very helpful, easy to talk to, and explained everything clearly from the moment I arrived. The room was amazing, with a beautiful view that made the experience even more special. All the staff were excellent and friendly. The two girls working at the bar in the afternoon were wonderful — unfortunately I forgot their names, but one of them was Venezuelan. They were both very welcoming and professional. The breakfast team was always respectful and ready to help. One lovely lady was so thoughtful that she prepared my outdoor table setup in the morning before I had even picked my food. The gentleman who seemed to be the manager handled the staff and operations very smoothly — you could really feel how organized and professional everything was. I also noticed the lady who I believe is the GM. She looked incredibly hardworking, present during the afternoon, evening, and morning, always supporting her team. I even saw her celebrating staff birthdays with them. This is exactly how true leadership should be. Anyone looking for real hospitality should visit this hotel. As a Hospitality GM myself, I can confidently say this is an approved place to enjoy a wonderful experience with your loved ones. Thank you to the entire team for such a memorable stay.Keep it up"

"When I stopped by to leave my luggage before check-in, they told me my room was ready and I could go in. The rooftop pool was very comfortable, with sunbeds available, so I could relax by swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying a drink from the bar. The staff were also very friendly and I was very satisfied. The location was also great, close to the cathedral. I would recommend it without hesitation."

"Hotel is beautifully situated in fine grounds, with views of Funchal and the sea from every room. Comfortable room with a small terrace; bathroom rather old-fashioned with a weak shower. Lots of antique furniture and beautiful flower arrangements; however, the public rooms feel a bit barn-like and can't be described as cosy. We were unlucky, with a tropical storm hitting the island during our stay: the hotel felt cold and the heating/air con system was being refitted, so wasn't working. However, they did provide us with a plug in heater, which helped. Monte is colder than Funchal, generally. Overall, it was a nice stay, though, and If it was possible to give a 4.5 rating, I would do so!"
