Residencial Monumental

This was just awful. We couldn’t stay the night and had to go to another hotel. I knew it was cheap and basic but this was simply unpleasant. Our room had light from only the glass door to the shared terrace. The bathroom had no window. When I asked receptionist if they had anything better, she acted as if she had no idea what I was talking about. I can’t imagine the food would be worth having. Oh and the best buy was that we had one available power socket and there was no AC. I’m very doubtful about the veracity of the positive comments on here. Save your money and go somewhere nice.

Staff friendly but accommodation awful Despite cleaners coming in daily still same cobwebs above bed & hairs from previous guests still on bathroom floor. Wife bought cleaning products to clean. Safe lock just fell out. Toilet very stained Appartment door lock was broken. No hot water in basin or shower. Sewage smells in room from toilet. Wiring for lights awful. Noisey banging at night. Cockroach climbing up my leg at breakfast. Good location. But despite this would never stay again. Needs some attention to detail especially the cleaning. Tv poor & at right angle on the wall. Real shame as maderia is lovely.

No kettle, crockery or cutlery. Place could do with a good clean. Mattress could feel EVERY spring. Cleaner lovely but not very thorough. Only saw staff at reception once. You get what you pay for

Our son is tall, and so we were given an extra free room. The staff Maria & Bruno were caring and attentive. The rooms were big and had ocean views. There was a free safe, a fridge and a TV. We brought our own kettle. The communication was great, the bus stop is 2 minutes away. During the last day we lost a powerbank and a toiler air freshener. The towels were refreshed everyday. We recommend to renew the furniture.

We booked this hotel as it was small and central. The price was amazing too! We stayed for 2 weeks and didn't have any problems. The staff, especially Bruno, were so friendly and would do anything for you. Towels changed daily. I accidentally spilt a whole glass of juice on my daughter's bed and asked them if we could have a set of bed linen telling them I would make the bed as it was my fault. The very kind lady wouldn't hear of it and made it herself. The booking said room only but Bruno told us at check in it actually included a simple breakfast. We don't eat breakfast so didn't partake but thought this was a nice gesture. The rooms are basic but clean and a good size. A fridge is included as is a free safe. We had a terrace which was gated and led to the communal terrace which in turn led to an upper terrace which is huge! We discovered on our last night a roof top terrace which would give amazing views. This hotel is so central! We walked every day to Funchal town (2 kms) and found a variety of cheap meal places. Turning right out of the hotel and walking about 1km, you come to The Forum, another shopping centre. About a 5 or 6 minute walk is The Lido. So if you don't mind dated rooms,a little rough around the edges but love a friendly, family atmosphere that only a small independent hotel can give you, book it!

Stayed here for the 3rd time and the apartments are brilliant. A free safe and fridge in the room,and location is superb. Supermarket next door,bars ,cafes,restaurants within walking distance and an amazing Indian restaurant right opposite. Bruno is amazing and makes you feel right at home. Can't wait to go back.

We had a room from 3rd floor. Due to the price we weren't expecting much from the room. The location was great and there was good spots for parking our rent car during the week. Service was kind during the stay. Room was quite clean, only to mention that bathroom was filled with previous customers' hair and we could tell that floor was never cleaned during our stay. The showers drain was filled with hair, which was pretty gross. Towels were changed everyday and beds were made by cleaners, which was nice. It would have been also nice to have some signs for door to skip cleaning, during couple of mornings cleaner lady came very loudly to room while we were still sleeping.

We stayed here for a week in September for a great price so we weren't expecting to stay at theis little gem. Yeh the rooms are a bit dated but hey if you look beyond that is a cracking places to stay, food was fab and the staff were wonderful they made our stay, nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of places to eat nearby and less than 5 mins to the bus stop to funchal centre and the lido was only about 5 mins away. Would defo recommend for the staff alone, well done that team👏👏👏

Toda a equipa muito atenciosos e muito simpáticos. A limpeza nos quartos principalmente na casa de banho deveriam melhorar,para quem queira descansar não é o ideal porque tem muito barulho a noite,mas o resto é recomendado.
