Club Jandía Princess

On my 4th night at the hotel as I write this. Have you ever had a pool so cold you can't use it while on holiday? That's the Janida Princess pool. The pool is so cold, bitterly cold that everyone is moaning about it, but nothing is being done. We've now resorted to sneaking to the hotel down the road "All Sun" to use theirs, then coming back here to chill out, eat, drink etc. Want a dip? Walk 150 meters to another hotels pool as this one is terrible. Adults have resorted to using the 2 foot deep "child pool" as its a little warmer, but not much. That's how bad it is. Not only is it freezing, it has hundreds of missing tiles, and the bar located in the hut, which is the prominent feature of the hotel, is closed all day. You spend all day looking at an empty bar that only opens at night, could serve ice cream, drinks, kids ice drinks etc, nope...and empty, closed bar. All day. As for the rooms..I'll let the photos do the talking. But if broke tiles, broken wardrobe, taps hanging off the wall, room not updated since the 90s is 4 star...then every hotel I've been to the past few years must be 5 star, as this is so dated its unbelievable. Upsides...lovely location. Great beach. Food was pretty decent. Kids enjoy the arcade and animation team stuff.

I'm actually torn between giving 3.5 stars and 4. Our stay at the club Jandia Princess was good and in certain aspects very good. Overall me and my friends had a great stay at the hotel but there were some areas they could improve that would make experience even better. Jandia is located just over an hour away from the airport. Its a quieter resort area and had a mix of mainly German, and some Spanish and British guests. Good points: The check in process was quite quick and you are greeted to a nice open reception area. There is vast hotel grounds with great sized pools and additional pool areas for children and quiet zone. There was always sun loungers available to choose from throughout the day. The hotel is located on the beachfront so great access. Please note there are a number of steps to the beach. The hotel is clean has nice outdoor decor of white buildings and palm trees around the grounds. There multiple bars in the hotel reception area, a sports bar and outdoor bar, and a swim up bar. The room for a group of 3 was ok. We managed to find space for 3 of our cases and cupboard space between us. The pullout sofabed was very comfy. The room was clean and the bathroom was a good size. Food at the main restaurant was generally good. They tried to put of theme nights for different varieties of food. We were always able to find a good selection of dishes to eat. Breakfast was great. We particularly enjoyed teatime and the cakes and FroYo at the snack restaurant. Staff were all pleasant and friendly and they put of really good evening entertainment with live singers, flamenco dance act and an acrobatic act. We felt there were areas for improvement that took away from the experience. Firstly The cleaning services were daily and towels were always changes but some things got missed like changing the bedsheets and emptying the bathroom bin. Had to leave a note to empty the bathroom bin on day 3 and then was done regularly after that. The bathroom needed extra ventilation a fan should be added. Steam can build up very quickly and leave alot of water on the floor just through condensation. Bit of a risk for a slip and fall. The small window is not enough. Note that to get to many rooms there are stairs and so we had to lift all 3 of our suitcases to the 3rd floor of our apartment block ourselves. Luckily we are strong young ladies and managed. Would have been nice if there was an offer for someone to help us. The last thing about the room that affected us was a visit from a cockroach at night in the bathroom that lived under the bathroom sink cabinet. We look back as a funny story now but it was not fun when going to use the toilet at night and then trying to deal with a cockroach thats come out for a walkabout and all 3 of us waking up and trying to trap it undera glass and somehow get out out of the room. The first time I/we have stayed at this resort and the overall opinion is that it was a good time. The staff were very helpful and nice, I needed an extra mattress for the sofa bed I was staying on as I could feel the metal bar underneath and they had one delivered within 15 minutes. The pools were all amazing, the drinks great, I loved the food, my daughters loved the chocolate fountain. I would go back again. Bosh.
