We had a 2 night stay midweek, travelling midweek from the UK to go to a gig at Vicar St. On arrival and throughout our stay the staff were great. Very friendly and, although slow at breakfast, service was great overall. Breakfast was ok, we got what we asked for but it would be nice to see more choice on the menu. The location of the hotel is within walking distance of the Temple Bar area, very easy to get a taxi or a tram, we travelled to Howth for the day by tram and train in about 40 minutes. Our room was pretty quiet throughout our stay. Other guests were annoyingly very noisy when walking past but I appreciate that the hotel can’t really do much about this. The room was very hot, I didn’t feel like I could open the window as it opened onto an alleyway which always had a lot of pigeons in it. The room itself was very small, I feel that the owners could have made the rooms a better size at the expense of maybe having 1 or 2 fewer rooms. The bed in our room was very noisy and it turned out that it had a broken slat underneath. Cleanliness wasn’t great, our room was very dusty (specifically the lampshades) and we had a very slow draining shower with the cause being a trap which was full of hair, not very pleasant. The water pressure on the shower was great and the bathroom was very pleasant. Netflix available on the TV, we couldn’t use the WI-FI as the code on our key card didn’t work. The room had tea and coffee making facilities. Half of the milk in the room was out of date and the milk we could use was replaced with more out of date cartons, very disappointing. Overall we had a pleasant stay but the room was very expensive for what we received. I would probably stay somewhere else in future. For the price I would expect air conditioning and a better standard of cleaning. I left all this feedback on the guest comment card and I really hope that the owners have been able to ready it.
