Ganpati Guest House

Beautifully decorated, clean, calm and quiet hotel. Wonderful location in the middle of the Varanasi ghat activity. Staff is friendly and helpful. The rooftop restaurant serves simple, reasonably priced, tasty food and you can see (in the distance) the nightly fire ceremony. Tip #1: Arrange to have the hotel staff meet you at your arrival point in Varanasi (in our case the airport). Otherwise I think we would have struggled to find the hotel, which is nestled deep within the Varanasi alleyways a ten minute or so walk from the nearest taxi drop off. Tip #2: Spring for the Ganges view room. It is a wonderful sight by day and night!

The Ganpati Guesthouse is the one and only in Varanasi. The staff is super friendly, helpful and the location can‘t be better. It combines the real India with all you need in a hotel from a comfort point of view. The rooftop and the Ganga view are priceless.

A magic place with an excellent location on the ghats, close to the ghat where the Ganga aarti is celebrated each evening, and close to the ***ikarnika ghat, the main ghat of cremation. Our room with view on the Ganga was comfy, nicely decorated, and perfect for a stay of 6 nights. The common spaces of the guest-house (internal shaded open yard, reception...) are very nice. Nice staff, very good service, cleanliness... last but not least, the restaurant located on the rooftop provides good food and an incredible view on the Ganges and surrounding buildings. A must for a stay in this holy city.

Incredible location directly above Meer Ghat. Private balcony to view the Ganga anytime. Our room was large and very comfortable with good AC. Delightfully decorated. Staff all very friendly and helpful. There is a tree in middle of courtyard with birds chirping and it makes a very pleasant place to eat with table and chairs. Also a roof top restaurant but beware the mosquitos.

Ganpati - Very beautiful guest house. Very colourful, inside they have amazing garden full of birds which you can hear every morning. Also they have rooftop restaurant with very delicious and full of variety food and beer to drink. The view is near ganga river full of life and sounds of local people everyday life. It's amazing place to stay, rest and have an amazing expierience in Varanasi 🤍🪬🧿 the stuff is very nice and very helphull. Apreciate. Thank you very much

Whenever I should visit Varanasi again, I defenitely would choose for Ganpati guesthouse again. The view at the Ganges, the charming decorated rooms, the ever so kind staff, the delicious fresh made food in the restaurant, the care. An more then enjoyable, beautiful place to stay in a very hectic town!

Would recommend the super-deluxe room as it faces the Ganges River and has a large balcony! However if it is unavailable there are common areas with views of the river too. The restaurant on the roof terrace served breakfast and a very good evening meal! The Ganpatti staff were extremely helpful. We had a couple of walking tours in Varanasi with our guide (provided by the guesthouse) called Balloo - who was very knowledgeable and spoke very good English. Mike & Paula

A great choice for lodgings overlooking the mighty Ganga. Perfect location, just look at the map. Rooms for a variety of budgets. Nice courtyard for a bit of quiet time. Rooftop restaurant offers great views and the food is well prepared and reasonably priced considering the location. It's very clean, staff seem to be forever at work keeping it spotless. The team are helpful and friendly. Unless you are familiar with the area I'd suggest you accept the pick up options as it's hard to find the first couple of times. The cost is very fair.

Bottom line: great place, great location, but spring for the super deluxe room if your budget can support it. Room: our super deluxe room was outstanding: nice bed, tastefully decorated, good shower, plenty of electrical outlets and, perhaps best of all, a private balcony overlooking the Ganges. We were told by a fellow traveler that some of the cheaper rooms downstairs were not especially pleasant. Location: perfect, especially as we were very interested in the ***ikarnika Ghat (the main cremation ghat), which was visible and easily walkable from our room. The guest house is also well positioned to visit several good restaurants and to explore the atmospheric alleyways of Varanasi. Staff: with the exception of one sullen front desk attendant, the staff were unfailingly cheerful, friendly and helpful. When I inquired about a nearby ATM a staff member was recruited to walk me there! For English speakers language was less of a barrier than in most places I visited in India. It was easy to arrange boat rides and other activities through the front desk. Food: breakfast (not included) was served in the very pleasant rooftop restaurant. The selection was ample, the prices (contrary to what some reviews suggest) were quite reasonable and the food was good, though not outstanding. Dinner was also good, but with the outstanding Varanasi Cafe right next door, there is little reason to eat here. The cafe's exterior is not very prepossessing, and the tablecloths were dirty, but ***, was the food good.
