Hotel Timor

Hotel Timor is a great place to stay. They pick you up from the airport and do everything they can to make your stay a good one. The staff are helpful and provide good advice. The location is fantastic. You can walk to the ferry, to good local restaurants, cafes, supermarket, museum and Parliament House. I recommend staying here for work and when on holiday.

One of the nicest room i have been lately; it was clean, well organized and not too claustrophobic with unnecessary items which make the room smaller. The downside was the erratic wifi and noise from the possible kitchen air ventilator (or something else). The room was on the second floor - there are no lifts in the hotel but accessibility for people with mobility issues will be a problem. The food was good - ate most times at the restaurant (Perhaps I was lazy to get out); staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely staff here when I come back to Dili

The hotel is in need of maintenance and even a renovation. The bathrooms are old, and the rooms are outdated, lacking any charm. I stayed on a party night, and the hoofer made the windows shake! It continues to be sought after because of its location and limited competition.

The hotel in general is good, It is two floors building and located in the city center, nothing exceptional. and is close to the sea, a five-minute walk. The room is clean and spacious, with simple furniture, but the bathroom needs renovation and the towels need to change. The restaurant and café are located in the lobby and breakfast options are limited but the dinner dishes are delicious especially the salmon. It has an excellent outdoor swimming pool with bar service. There is no elevator and it is not suitable for people with special needs or the elderly. All staff are friendly and polite. The hotel price is kind of high .

Had a two night stop here. Very comfortable, staff were efficient, clean and tidy, room well appointed, hot showers. Used the pool, was fine, strong chlorine use in pool. Breakfast was included, it was satisfying, normal buffet, plenty to choose from, nothing lavish but acceptable. Dorman/Porter helpful in organising taxis.Had a problem with the room safe but staff sorted it within 45 mins having to wreck it to gain entry! Souvenir shop is the best on Dili. Felt safe and secure here.

I stayed here for 3 nights when visiting Dili. It’s traditional style with a modern take. I liked all the wooden decor. The pool looked fabulous however I didn’t have time for a dip. The breakfast each morning was good with lots of options. Spacious room and comfy bed. Convenient location. Recommend!

Location is great for central Dili exploring, or for the early ferry to Atuaro ferry. The hotel has free airport pick up, with a lovely cold bottle of water supplied for the drive. The hotel and room itself was nice, the room was clean (although shower screen could have had a bit more of a scrub). Breakfast was the usual Bain Marie of eggs, mushrooms, Frankfurt, with yoghurt, cereal fruit and drinks. The price is on the high side even though it is a nice place to stay. I cancelled my second booking and stayed elsewhere due to the price.

Hotel Timor was fine with accommodation, food etc. The staff were friendly. Our bad experience was with the tour guide they recommended. We booked and paid him for 4 days of tours with a guide called Edy Lucky. The first 2 days were fine, but he cancelled the second 2 days on us. We spent 3 days trying to get a refund but to no avail. He kept promising to but never turned up. The people of East Timor are very friendly and we always felt safe. Unfortunately, one bad guide who rips you off leaves a sour memory of a country that desperately needs tourism to flourish.

Hats off to the Special GnT and the ginger tea. Had one of these everyday for my 10 day stint in Dili. Both are the inventions of a very talented restaurant staff member. The evening crew at the Hotel are to be equally commended. The food at the hotel is disappointingly European. The attempt at local fruits for breakfast and stir fried local greens for dinner could be so much better if the hotel took a chance with all that organic produce readily available literally 3 minutes ride by Bemo down at the Lecidere foreshore fruit and vegetable market. Historic Hotel in which you can otherwise watch the wheeling and dealing of Dili and witness the microcosm of what Dili is today.
