The hotel is a local hotel with a local Chinese theme with modernization. We stayed at the family room which is big for 4 pax, the room has a nice bathtub with a universal socket for mobile phone charging. The room comes with 1 queen and 1 super single bed which the super single bed is too small for 2 pax. It will be ideal to have 2 queen beds. There is no hanger at the bathtub or shower area. Good location as it's around 100m to 150m to the Bund and Yu Yuan, Yu Yuan subway station. There are several eateries across the street such as 小杨煎包, Tim Horton and many more. One can walk to Yu Yuan for meals as there are famous restaurants over there though it can be crowded. The hotel staff are helpful from the concierge, room cleaning , receptionist and like to thank Eason from the reception who helped to order food from meituan since the apps and alipay do not accept foreign mobile numbers. There is a robot that will help to deliver items to your room. The hotel also helps to receive delivery from e-commerce, just to make sure there is sufficient time as needed at least 3 days. The hotel provides daily tour at the Bund city walk or Yu Yuan and is quite useful for first timers. It also offers free desert every night at 8pm

It was overall a great stay. The lobby is cozy, fragrant and dimly lit with soft yellow lighting. The room is not very big but there was enough space to move around comfortably. Love the shower with instant heating and water temperature digitally displayed and the hairdryer has good wind strength. The toilet seat is electronically kept warm and wash basin tap comes with hot water, which really made a difference during cold weather. Breakfast was simple but delicious, with variety enough for a nutritious start to the day. The noodles made by the robot was unexpectedly quite tasty. The complimentary late night porridge was also a warm touch to end the day for guests. There are books spread out throughout the public spaces for guests to borrow (all Chinese books though). The location is rather convenient, about 10-15min walk to 2 metro stations, Jing An Temple Station and Nanjing West Rd station, lots of eateries nearby and a few shopping malls like Kerry Centre are also within walking distance, plus the beautiful Jing An Temple of course. Special thanks to the kind staff named Weekend (Zhou Mo) who extended complimentary late check out till 4pm in view of my late flight.

I have stayed in multiple hotels in SH. Including The Conrad, Renaissance, Pudong Intercontinental and Maxx. Maxx is definitely a hotel with Character, Style, and Color. unlike your everyday & everywhere the same ‘typical 5* hotel’ it has many ‘caring’ features for a truly delightful experience. the flowery scent of the lobby area and the service coffee machine and tomatoes in the lobby, are just some of the small but very delicate warmth that I felt while staying at Maxx. the wooden floor in the room was very good too, especially with kids because carpet floors, how ever much you clean, it does have that raggedy smell with time. but not at maxx. The view? second to none obviously. the location? prime - right in front of the ferry to pudong. and 5-10mins from yuyuan gardens. Especially, the staff. I have had my share of rather unfriendly staff in China. But all of maxx’s staff were sooooo friendly and warm and kind. the door men (both Chinese and western person) - they helped us every time we went up and down the entrance stairs with our pram with the baby, and the check in staff were so caring too. And i see a lot of people complaining about the fact that the staff are not fluent in English. Bro, turn on your google translate man. you are half way across the Earth in China, and no where does it say anywhere ‘our staff are fluent in English’ - ‘when in Rome…’ - But to be fair, Maxx had multiple lady staff who were sufficient in English to my surprise, and she was really nice and helpful. (please give her a raise lol). Anyway I will definitely stay here again w/o even looking at other hotels in SH for sure. 10/10.

I tried to check in at 2pm, was informed that the room was not ready for at least 1 more hour. Asked the receptionist for a restaurant, and instead of pointing out the ones from the hotel, she sent me to Yu Gardens... Come back after an hour and was informed that I need to wait for another 30 min at least. I was given a voucher for a soft drink, and I headed to the lounge to get this drink, I showed the voucher to lady and she said for me to have a cold tea that I agreed. At 3:35 stand up to get my key and the waitress ask me to pay for the tea, I pointed out that I got a voucher and she said that voucher was not good for cold tea and I need to pay aroung 230RMB for a tea I didn't want at the beginning, I was there just for the absurd waiting time for the room to be ready! I asked the manager, and they said no need and they would take care... Arrived in room 1771, a well-appointed room, tried to make a coffee, and the machine was not working... I called the concierge and informed about the machine, after 5 min a lady call me to offer me a bottle.of wine, that I declined as I don't drink offer fruit and at the end an upgrade to the room, I went to the toilet and left the room at 16:00 as I had a meeting. I arrived at the meeting with sweaty clothes and without taking a shower as I got the room over 90 minutes later... I received the key of the new room before I left, when I come back I tried to use the key but was not active, i headed back to reception to check what happened and they activated but didn't apologise for the mistake. The new room had a view of the Bund, so there was no upgrade of the room itseld was just an upgrade of the view... The hotel is nice, has good amenities, and breakfast is solid, fresh, but not as much choice as compared to Shangri-la Pudong. The pool changing room and showers need better cleaning and mantenience. The people at the reception and at the lounge need better training and level up their English to a better standard, hotel is 5 star, experience is far from it.

My friends in China recommended this hotel and told me that she loves it because it’s relatively inexpensive compared to similar hotels in the area. She also stressed that it is a native Chinese brand hotel that it is easier for her to order food and just anything she needs. I was pleasantly surprised by its decor, service, cleanliness and modern amenities. Our room had a nice big tub, huge shower and toilet with bidet. It’s been a while since I visited Japan and I forgot how nice to have a bidet. The breakfast was a nice addition to our stay since it is included. It served both Chinese and American breakfast with some nice local dishes. The decor is modern Chinese Jiangnan style featuring paintings, Calligraphy, and 3-D animation of gold fishes. I enjoyed working out at the gym as well. Super clean and all equipment are easy to use. There is a Pilate room as well. I didn’t have time to enjoy it. The staff are friendly and helpful. Not to mention that I asked for a power cord, it was delivered by a robot. Five star experience! .

Recently staying at [Shanghai Pudong Metropark International Hotel] was really an unforgettable experience! From the moment I stepped into the hotel lobby, the warm and thoughtful service came to me. Weini checked in quickly and efficiently, and also introduced the hotel's facilities and services attentively. The hotel's rooms are warm and comfortable, and every detail shows quality. The bed is moderately soft, allowing people to have a good night's sleep. The facilities in the room are complete, and smart devices are available to meet various needs. The catering is even better, with a rich variety of breakfasts, from Western bread and ham to Chinese hot porridge and dim sum, and every dish is fresh and delicious. Whether it is a business trip or a leisure vacation, [Shanghai Pudong Metropark International Hotel] is definitely the best choice. I strongly recommend it to all friends, and I believe you will fall in love with it like me after staying here!

Hotel is clean and comfortable. All staff are friendly and helpful. We didn’t have local phone therefore ordering food delivery is almost impossible. The hotel front desk staff helped us make all our take away orders and the robot sent our food to our doorstep. Very efficient!

Hotel is located not too far away from the Hongqiao airport but not near town center. Room was very clean and pillows and bed comfortable. The hotel provides night time snack and free tea for customers. They’re also helpful to non Chinese speaking customers. I’ve a wonderful experience staying at the hotel.

Had a great stay! The room was spotless, well-maintained, and very comfortable. The service was excellent—staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. The only downside is that the location is a bit far from the city center, but if you don’t mind the distance, it’s definitely a great place to stay!

Nice interior design. Good food. Cozy lobby and resting area. Room layout is good for family. Overall 5 star
