Au Jardin des Colibris Ecolodge&Spa

Everything was so lovely! This was our first time staying at an eco lodge and this place did not disappoint! We booked the jungle 3 cottage with private pool, outdoor kitchen and outdoor bath/shower. It was very private so clothes were not needed when just lounging around! The entire grounds are beautifully done and falling asleep to all the frogs was fantastic! We watched the birds every morning while having breakfast and dipped in the pool to cool off many times! Yes it’s hot in the jungle but sleeping at night with just a fan was comfortable. I even had to use the real blanket over the sheet at times. We booked massages by the pool and it was pouring rain the whole time with frogs singing in the background. Omg it was heavenly!! Our therapist were both amazing! We had an issue with our car rental(not through the eco lodge), which Arawak co/rentiles would not respond to us about what to do for days. Everyone at the eco front desk was so helpful!! Even gave us an air pump until we could get to the tire shop they recommended to get everything fixed. I only had one month to learn French and of course I was horrible at it but again, every person at the front desk helped us and made dinner reservations and didn’t judge or make us feel bad for not speaking French well or even at all. Really appreciated that as the airport customs people just laugh in your face if you try to pronounce something. Anyway, we are thankful that this was our first eco lodge experience and doubt anywhere else can beat it! I would give 50 stars if I could!! The kitchen was well stocked but don’t leave any food out! My can of peanuts got destroyed. lol The bed was perfect, not too hard or soft. Anytime you start the outdoor showers frogs start to sing! We only saw two hummingbirds but think our cottage was farther back and facing a small view of the town!!! I had no idea we were getting a view! Less hummingbird feeders in this direction but we had plenty of birds to watch! It is maybe a 3 -5 minute drive into town (walking it seemed scary with not much room on sides of street) but we always found a parking spot in the small lot at the start of town. Make your dinner reservations ahead of time, places are closed all on different days and things fill up fast. We liked everyplace they recommended and reserved for us! Stellar customer service!!!! FYI make sure you visit the zoo!!!!

Secret lounge was perfectIt was a great stay, beautifull location and very nice view to Deshaies. The beaches where great and the small town of Deshaies was also great. And the location is next to the Botanical Gardin witch is realy beautifull.

Very comfortable, well run property. Our villa (Pain) did not have aircon, but it didn't matter, we spent 8 nights here, and slept really well with a ceiling fan and mosquito net. We spent most of our time on the patio area watching the hummingbirds and lizards. 3 minute drive into Deshaies, and several good restaurants, and a couple of minutes more to the Grande Anse beach. Pool area is lovely, and the hosts were kind and helpful.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful environment. Clean environment and cottage. Great service from the owners. Because we were not French they really did their best in English. Great place to be when you have spend your day sightseeing. Getting rally at ease in the natural environment with colibries, smalle lizards etc.

We had a great one week stay at Au Jardin Des Colibris in Jungle Lodge 2 in December 2023. The grounds, garden, and pathway areas are beautiful. There is a “front desk” hut where Clement checked us in and provided the key and all the information we needed. All the staff at Au Jardin are super friendly and helpful, and they made dinner reservations for us and suggestions for activities and hikes. The pool and spa area is very nice, and there is a bathroom / change room there as well. Our jungle lodge was positioned about 16 steps up from a pathway that leads to some other units. Our lodge had a deck with two lounge chairs, plunge pool, and a covered well-equipped kitchen area with a hightop table and four chairs. The entire deck/pool/kitchen area was very private due to the deck railings and foliage around the lodge. Inside the door to the unit was the bed, some seating, a large closet and a bathroom sink/vanity. The toilet was in a separate room with a door, and above this was a loft with another bed. Another door leads to the outdoor bathtub and shower area which is completely private. This setup provided a really unique and fun experience for us. A few examples: It was glorious having a hot shower outdoors. At every breakfast there was a Lesser Antillean Bullfinch waiting to see whether he would be able to sneak a sip of orange juice, a few melon seeds and some crumbs. At night, we slept with the doors wide open with the sound of the breeze and tree frogs to lull us to sleep. We did use the bed’s mosquito netting even though we did not see a lot of flying insects. Preparing and having meals outdoors was wonderful as well. This was our first gîte-style accommodations so we don’t have a frame of reference for what is typical but we found it well equipped. There were bath towels, tea towels in the kitchen, hand soap dispensers and dishwashing liquid, garbage bags for kitchen and bathroom, coffee filters, two rolls of toilet paper, some citronella candles, a foldout drying rack, and more. The kitchen had a large refrigerator/freezer, a microwave oven, toaster, kettle, drip coffee maker, stove top, and various dishes and utensils. What was missing was an oven and a dishwasher but we did not need them. We did order our first night’s meal from Au Jardin in advance and it was in our refrigerator when we arrived, and all we needed to do was microwave it. The location is just a few minutes drive from Deshaies, which has nice restaurants, a terrific boulangerie-patisserie, shopping, and a couple small grocery stores. From Au Jardin, our favorite beach Plage de Grande Anse is just an 8 minute drive north, and Plage de la Perle is just a few minutes further. In the other direction, Plage de Malendure is a half hour drive and offered a very calm black volcanic sand beach and good snorkeling. We loved our stay here, the nature bay cottage was fantastic with breathtaking views. Beaches / nature parks are all in proximity. We stayed here for 4 days (out of 12) and with hindsight should have booked for longer. One of best spots to stay in Guadeloupe.
